Default Will the iPod function work with the iPhone?

Has anyone tried controlling the iPod portion of the iPhone through the stereo?

Yes, it works, but it turns your phone off and puts it in airplane mode.

The 1st iPhone works perfect in my car. Plays music, charges battery, and rings when someone calls.

The 2nd iPhone (3G) also works fine however it wont charge the battery.

Which head unit are you using, and what firmware are you using?

You can control iPODs through the cable but will not charge any of the new ones ie Touch 2g and Nano 4g. Anyone heard anything about a possible cable fix since the only change that I heard was exclusion of the firewire pins for current models so that you can only charge from the USB.

they sell devices that convert a firewire ipod connection into a USB one. a company called scosche sells one through apple stores. its steep at 25 bucks but it will charge all newer models and you can leave it connected to the ipod cable supplied by the manufacturer.

For those of you using the iphone ... have any of you done the following?

-Used the I heart radio app to play radio stations from around the country through your iphone and thereby through your radio?

-For those with the nav system or dvd capability, used the iphone to watch hulu tv episodes through your nav screen or played video from your iphone through your nav screen?

Curious because I am weighing the possibilities of an iphone because of everything it can do and if integrates into our nav radios or pioneers etc then it is definately worth the money.
