Default +1 .... another Scion xD owner!

Hi all,

New poster here, but I've been lurking the Scionlife forums for a few weeks.

Finally took home my brand new 2009 Scion xD this afternoon!! Magnetic Grey Metallic, what a beauty! The only pain was waiting for my car to arrive to the dealership, it took about 1.5 weeks. But all along, my Scion dealer at Longo did a great job keeping me informed.

The purchase part was pretty easy, and the dealership did not browbeat me or try the other nasty pushy sales tactics that I experienced in buying my previous car. Overall, a good buying experience.

I feel kinda dorky admitting that I added the Illuminated Door Sills... but tonight, when I opened the doors... wow.... they look gorgeous! But this is California, and you gotta love what you drive. My cousin came and saw the blue illuminated door sills (at night).... and he's like .... "Whoa! That is sooo ghetto! That's sooo not you. But hey, that's cool anyways!"

Also got the Scion security system. I'm not sure how good the toyota security is (I heard it's so-so), but I went ahead and got it because HAVING IT installed saved me a good deal of money on auto insurance right away. So I guess it paid for itself.

Compared to my last car (honda civic), the Scion xD feels quite a bit more 'responsive' and sensitive steering. The ride was fairly nice and smooth, except for one stretch of road (one of the freeways here in SoCal) I think it was a short stretch of the I-605 where the freeway road was pretty bumpy. There were no potholes, just something about the road itself that made it bumpy, I felt my seat bobbling up and down up and down. I guess that's bound to happen on cars of this size (or is it the low profile?)

Anyways, I'm not sure if its good form to mention the name of my Scion sales guy, so I won't. But I will recommend Longo in Southern California!

Hey bertoxis, congrats on the new ride. Did the dealer have to order your car or just wait for the next lot? I'm in NorCal and still waiting for mine (same color) but the dealer said they had to trade allocations since I wanted VSC. But the wait sux so bad.

I actually went through the Scion website and did the "email your quote to dealerships" thing, that was at the start of september. Then Longo called me and said he would be getting one of the Magnetic Grey 2009s in the coming week, told me that it was still in port. There was a little delay in the shipment arriving to dealership, so it was closer to 2 weeks really. But i expected there would be a wait, since these cars are still rare to find just sitting on the dealership lots.

So yeah I was happy my car was pristine new, I picked it up the day after it arrived at dealership. It had less than 6 miles on it when i test drove it myself. I think your wait wont be too long, but I'm not sure how much the VSC will delay things.

@Zefoxe: thanks! I'm sure I can take some pics this coming week. But I'm not sure about where to go for meets. I'm sure Socal has a Scion club or two, so I'll look into it.

So anymore feed back on how the car is? Once concern we had was the sitting position, since you said you were coming from a civic, how do you like being more upright? the wait is killing me right now, the dealer said today that the car should be at the port no sunday.

On seating position: It's just like in the 4Runner! LOL! It's not low like a Civic.

Congrats on the purchase and thanks for choosing Longo

Yeah, seating position is pretty good. Like others said, it's a bit higher than sitting in a Civic. That's a good thing in my opinion.

As for mods... I'm saving up for nice rims next. The cheap plastic hub caps that come with the stock car is well... kinda cheap looking.
