Default 18s on the Xd?

Hey Kids, I'm not yet an Xd owner (I'm still in Japan on business) but I'll be ordering one when I return. I was looking at the 18 inch TRD wheels on Scion's website and I was less than excited about the 2 grand price tag.

Needless to say, I would like to spend half that on black 18s. Any recommendations?

Also, what's with everyone's love of 16s and 17s? I see no posts or lovers of the 18 inch rims! I'm planning on getting the TRD lowering springs and I think that the black 18s would look snazzy.

Oh, and last thing, I'm new to having (soon having really) a car that isn't a billion years old. Last car I had was a 1991 Dodge pickup. I looked like I was going to fly the confederate flag and shoot someone. My point is this is all pretty new to me. What are the specs on the rims and tires I need to look for to price match/shop for my upcoming Xd?

Thanks!

For sure...lug pattern is 5x100...not sure what the stock offset is...maybe +42???

I think most people prefer to stick with smaller wheels and tires, because they want to keep their MPG up...most 18" wheels are pretty heavy, but you can find lightweight 17" wheels that weigh close to some OEM 16" alloy wheels...

Stock offset is 39, but it's on a 16x6 wheel, so everything up to 45 works fitment-wise.

so 18*8 wit a +45 would fit......hmmm the gas mileage is important to me though......I guess it would be nice to run a thinner tire on my 16's.....but alas only a dream

18x8 with +45 should fit theoretically, especially if you go with a 225 tire (waste of an 8" wide wheel if you ask me, but oh well).

TRD 18s are 18x7.5 w/42 offset. That seems to be ideal with 225/40/18 tire.

You should try and get some JDM stuff while you're in Japan! Be the 1st IST in the US!

I totally should pick some stuff up while I'm here. I've been here for 5 weeks and I've got 2 to go!

I'm still trying to decide what I want to go with. I like the idea of 18s but I imagine that the ride might be a little bit better with the 17s. I appreciate the feedback you've been iving me.

As for a tired, recommendations for a year around tire? I live in Maison, WI, and winter will soon be upon us. My XD won't be my everday driver, as I have a company vehicle I drive, but I will drive it around on a weekly basis. I'd like to get a tire that would be good year round.

You know, I'm not really sure, as I haven't done the comparison yet...I think it all depends on your driving habits...

wheel and tires specs would be helpful to people, especially when you say "no rubs"...

I ordered 18x7.5 42 offset with 225/40/18 tires. Same specs as TRDs.

Here is an xD from the Beaverton Scion Warehouse Jam a few weeks ago. If they weren't 2k bucks and would fit (wrong bolt pattern I think), I would slap these on my xB2. I think they are HOT!!! May check with Sparks Scion they seem to have way low prices.
