Default And again..

Spun out today and smacked in to a guard rail as I was headed home from work right around John Wayne Airport. Someone looked like they were trying to maneuver in to my lane on the 405-S onramp at MacArthur so I tweaked the wheel then went sliding!

Only have crappy pictures so far but I have a feeling they may total it as the rear axle looks completely shot

If they total my car, anyone want my Clazzio seat covers, TRD exhaust and maybe my Pioneer Avic F700BT? I think that's all I would be able to get out of the car as I bet the rear sway and springs in the back are buggered.

I used to like the rain. Now I do not.

aw man that sucks to see a nice xd to be gone like that. At least you're ok. A car can be replaced but a life can't. Oh and don't forget about your ist center console.

holy crap I'm so sorry. Are you all right? That's a hard hit...especially for that rear. I'd say that's pretty close to totaled if mine was only 300$ away from it.

For my warranty thing, it was because all the parts on the vehicle that were damaged, were replaceable, and didn't come close to touching the frame/unibody/airbag sensors/etc. Because everything was replaced with OEM parts, I can still sell my vehicle at KBB value, which means it retained it's "full value" if I ever go to sell it.

I'm glad to see you're alright though (since you're posting this at least)

and if you want to part with the pioneer unit, I'm down for it. PM me later with the info. good luck with everything, I hope it goes over smoothly

Alright really this many benders this close together is kinda spooky. I'm staying at home locked in.
You know what I think, it's people driven insane with jealousy or just mesmerized by a good looking car forgetting how to drive and careening toward their object of lust. Just a thought though.

your side curtain airbag went off, that's $3000 alone.

probably a total. those seat covers are a good touch... were a good touch.

since you're offering, how much for em?

Sorry to see all these accident postings. I'm originally from the Bay Area, and my parents keep telling me about how bad the rain has been out west. As others have mentioned, this sure hasn't been a good start of 2010 for our cars. Out of curiosity, what was the side airbag deployment like? Did you get any mild injuries like people seem to get from steering wheel airbags? Even if the insurance $ettlement works out right are you not planning on getting another xD? Again, my condolences.

They'll probably total it just based on the airbag deployment alone... sorry to see that.

yea airbag deployment is the 2nd worst thing that can happen aside from unibody/subframe damage. a lot of insurance companies will just dump the car if the fronts deploy because just the 2 front bags, pop out pieces, and labor to reinstall cost enough to total the car. If they do total, and JJ ends up not interested in the seat covers, pm me on them, same for the center console.

Good luck with the car and with insurance!.

I haven't heard from the body shop yet but I am thinking they will total it seeing as the airbag went off and the back end is probably buggered up badly.

Most likely I will have to get a used car since I won't be able to afford a new one or pricey used car. Don't want a tC or iQ, would prefer to have my car back (named her 2 months ago, Quinn is the name) and just run her further in to the ground. If I do have to get a new car hopefully it will be able to take my HU, but if not then I'll have to sell it.

I have no idea, it happened too fast. At first I thought I hit the window but then realized it was the airbag when I had no blood on my hand (I grabbed my head after hitting the hairbag). My head just really hurt yesterday, feeling much better today compared to my previous accident.

If I can afford it, I'd love to get a new or used xD (same color!) and just move everything over to the new one. I highly doubt I'll be able to afford a decent car.. *sigh*

Going to make a list of what parts I have that I can remove and think of prices. This bites..

if you have a stock headunit.. you should be able to shove it back in the car if insurance cares that much. they shouldn't care about you removing your headunit though.. and it should be easy to take out

*sigh*... you'll be fine. i'm sure. keep your chin up

Idk if this is too much money for you to be spending, but I'm in the market for a new car, once I get mine back i cuold sell it but I'd have to sell for 14k :\ we still owe ~12k on the car and I need a downpayment for the next. Or perhaps just pay like..2-3k and take over payments? Is that even possible? I only offer because like you said, you want an xD again, so I'd be happy to help.

Let me know how you feel about it, no hard feelings if you cant or if it's too expensive.

well i hope you get a new car.
hows everything insurance wise?
i still have to wait a couple more days for the adjuster to come out.
if the insurance gives you money, do they give the value of the car before or after the accident?

They give you the value of the car pre-accident, what it would probably sell for at the low end of the scale.

TRD: You're getting the car back, why not keep it? That's a lot more money to be spending on a new car when you're getting yours back. I'd much rather get my car back and keep it forever than try to get a new car honestly.

KBB says my car is worth around $8,000 and that's using the Fair option. Hopefully I'll find out tomorrow how much the estimate is or if they're going to total it.

Would it be an option to have them repair the car regardless of them trying to total it? I seem to remember another owner on here saying they were able to get the insurance to repair the car even though they were trying to claim it as totaled.

The way it works,

At least in Louisiana, and I assume its the same in cali, is that they total it, they pay you the money, you have the first option to buy it back from insurance before they auction it. so at that point you would be buying the car back at what its worth as a heap pile, and then youd pay out of pocket to repair it yourself.
