Default Any complaints about the xD?

Anyone have complaints about the xD or changes you would like to see in the future?

Have been driving mine for a month and have a short list of minor issues and suggestions:

Complaint: Turn signal click is too low. This becomes an issue because the xD fails to turn off the signal after modest turns like a freeway on-ramp.

Suggestions: add a center console, add express down to all windows, allow all windows to be lowered from the remote, allow the front passenger seat to fold forward and flat, a roof rails option for additional storage would add versatility, would love to see Toy add engine shut-off at stops and restart when foot is lifted off the brake across the line-up

Otherwise I love the looks, power, versatility, stereo options, handling, comfort, and fuel economy of my xD!

I agree with the turn signal... I've found myself driving around cluelessly w/ it on a few times.

Center Console - There is supposedly one coming out soon, but I haven't seen any internal notes circulating in regards to that. We are looking to import the iST consoles though.

Express Auto Down - Cost issue. Even most Toyota vehicles sport only the driver's window with AUTO. Higher end Toyota models feature both front windows. I think none offer all auto except the Lexus line.

Windows from the remote - Reserved for Lexus, I believe. You basically hold the unlock button for 2+ seconds and they roll down. Easy enough to integrate into the ecu, but I bet we won't see it for a while on the Toyota/Scion vehicles.

Engine off @ stops - It sounds good, but the wear on the starter would be horrible. Yes, I know the Hybrids turn on and off all day long, but the starter isn't the everyday type found in gas powered Toyotas.

---

My turn for gripes:

Seat height! I feel like I'm in a faux SUV. I've gotten used to it, but a slightly lower height (or adjustable option) would be nice.

That's basically it =] Everything else has already surpassed my expectations.

Love my car, but like you said the clicking on turn signal is soft. It's impossible to hear when the radio is on lol. I drove on the highway for about 10 min before I noticed it was on lol......

bet everyone behind me was rolling their eyes : P

yeah, i have to say, that i think auto up and down should be standard on all power windows. i hated when driving my old explorer and having to hold all the window buttons to close the windows before getting in and out. i love how the tc is just a quick press and they go up and down.

Center Console is the big one, but i have put one in.

i would like to see a telescoping steering wheel. i feel that i am reaching for the wheel at little much sometimes.

a drivers side cup holder like they have on the dash on the passenger side.

drivers seat really needs the up and down adjustment, like the new xb has.

a 110 power plug, im working on putting one in.

at least one more cigarette lighter plug.. i have put in 2.

if you have looked at a honda fit, they have a cool rear seat. the bottoms will flip up giving you room to stick a mountain biker or what ever in the car easily. i love that feature in the fit.

Being old school, i HATE idiot lights. Give me the standard 3 gauges. water temp, oil pressure, and voltage. i am going to have to put those it.. Drives me nuts.

is it just me or are the hub caps on the xd the ugliest caps you have ever seen?

Outside temp gauge would be nice too.

I know I am nit picking here, but it is my wish list. Other than these additions, I absolutely love the xd, and still think it’s the best choice for me, would still buy it again.

I always glance down at my gauges so the turn signal isn't a problem for me

I would LOVE to have the adjustable seats as well as a telescoping steering wheel.

A better turning radius would be nice too :?

theres an option for this in Japan for the Ist if you really in need of this.

I just wished holding the unlock button would roll down all the windows like in many other cars. And rear discs would be nice. And I was really shocked to find that the rear cargo cover that goes right below the window doesnt even come stock. Other then that the car serves all its purposes and needs beyond satisfaction

A quieter engine on startup, this thing growls at startup, the turning radius could be better, a 6 speed manual transmission (I have the 5 speed, but it could use another gear), disc brakes in the rear, less sensitive remote - it seems if you just look at the buttons the doors lock, unlock or alarm goes off.

I'm actually fine with the turning radius. My main problem is how short the hood is being half the size of my other cars (mx6, integra, 240sx). I thought I was going to hit my girlfriends uncles porsche the other day but I was about 3 feet away from it. From the inside it looks like im eating the bumper though Same with broken u turns. I can see how people might judge it as a short radius.

I think the turning radius is unusually large for a small car. My 06 Sonata sedan had a sharper turning radius. However, I think the xD's turning radius is because of the large wheels on a small chassis!

tC FTW!

Though It's probably a bit easier when there are only 2 windows instead of 4. Auto up and down for both windows is awesome.

Yep =) the IS has this feature, though I remember when I had held down unlock and all the windows rolled down for the first time I scared myself because I didn't know it had that feature haha

A arm rest is sorely needed. They should have had this as a standard feature when the car was released. Or have an armrest on the seat side for the passenger seat as an option. The driver has the stick to hold on to (in the manual) I suppose even in the automatic as well.

A dead pedal rubber pad or something for the driver.

iPod in the glove box instead of the cable/cup holder setup.

- BTW the intermittent wiper thing. You can thank greedy Ford & Chrysler Corp. for that. I had a 89 Plymouth Horizon with this setup and the wipers were perfect for the Pacific North West rains.

A engineer came up with a 10 position intermittent wiper switch and Ford & Chrysler Corp. stole it. It took the engineer a decade of lawsuits and he ended up winning. So since these corporations were so greedy no one gets to have this technology. We only get the two position version because the companies don't have to pay for the license to use it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Kearns

Really no complaint here...

Still in the break in period and I've been really enjoying driving the car. It has plenty of speed and corners well.

I'm really happy I bought this car.

I'm still in the honeymoon phase, so...

- so much fun to drive that I forget to do other things
- fear that someone will nick the side of it when I'm parked in the parking lot

I do not like the shiny plastic "waterfall" on the dash and on the door panels. When the sun hits it, it reflects back into my eyes.

Any one else notice an "eggy" smell when the AC is on???
Also, I have a rattle in my dash when rpms are around 2500.

Hmmm, center console would be nice.

I have had a couple of almost mishaps due to blind spot in the cargo area.
