Default Back from the Body Shop...... Or not

So for anyone that had followed this thread a couple months ago.

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=165391

I got my car back yesterday (yay!, right?) was real excited that I was finally getting out of this horrible little Kia Rio I've been driving for the last 2 months.

Well today, on my way to my Scion dealer to chat up the parts salesman on some parts I was looking at ordering before the wreck, and I'm just taking my time cruising on the service road when i start to hear some horrible squeaking. So I begin to slow down to a stop so I can check it out when I notice this black stuff flying all over the place, looked like scraped paint. Suddenly the car dove and begins skidding all over the place . Long story short, my car came to a halt 10ft from a huge exit sign, the wheel was on the other side of the street, and 5 of my Ray's Extended Lug nuts were torn to pieces.

The culprit. A hub adapter.
When the body shop replaced the old wheel, they didn't remove the adapter from the hub, and when they put the new rim on, they put the hub adapter into the rim instead of onto the hub. So I was driving on a rim that had no support whatsoever other than the lugs and the tiny hub ring.

Anyways, I'm done writing this little book here, Cars been gone for 2 months, and now I guess it'll be gone for another month.

Yea, they are taking care of everything. Which is fine, I'm not really in it to get anything extra, although if it takes them longer than a week or 2 to fix it I'm going to start asking them if they plan to pay a month of my car note.

that car is haunted..... lol
I didnt move it anywhere hahaha, thats where it stopped and thats where it stayed until the wrecker the body shop sent got there

So... it's not supposed to do that?
Upon this question, I decided to double check the owner's manual, and have come to the conclusion, wheels are indeed , NOT supposed to take flight during a drive.

LOL!!! Dude, sorry to hear about that; would have scared the cripe out of me! Glad to hear the shop is making it right, integrity is tough to find these days.

Go after that shop, that is ridiculous. I am so tired of shops hiring people who barely know wtf they're doing to work on cars. Still not happy with mine but... eh, can't do anything about it now.

Hope they fix it and then some for you.

Hub centric ring is correct.

They left the one from the old wheel on the hub, and put the new wheel on with the centric ring inside of the new wheel already so the wheel was getting no hub support other than the 2 rings creating friction against each other.

There's really no point, that requires getting a lawyer involved, and I'd much rather just have my car back as fast as possible with them covering all of the damages and my rental, which they are already doing. If they would have resisted paying for the damages, then I would have gotten a lawyer and have gone after much more than my damages.

I thought that myself after it happened, wondering why I didn't notice, I made them air up the tires properly and took a close look at all the suspension and parts, had them double check my lug torque, and everything seemed fine.. never noticed it.

____ that, get a lawyer and sue their asses. You're lucky it didn't happen at 70 mph or you might have flipped the car and died.
