I seem to have backed into an ice/snow mound over the winter and tore a small hole in my bumper cover next to one of the reflectors. Does anyone know if it would be repairable, or if I should just go with a new bumper? The tear is L shaped, and about an 1-1.5".

I seem to have bad luck with the xD - between the chipped windshield (which was poorly repaired by Safelite), the dent in my fender from someone's door that got caught in the lovely Chicago wind, the tear in my bumper, and the small tear in one of my seats....blah.

I'm going to have to invest a small fortune to get anything decent for a trade in.

And this isn't to say I don't take care of my cars - i do. However, I can't say the same for some of my passengers, or other inconsiderate drivers.

 

if you're looking for a DIY i've fixed similar issues with some duct tape on the inside, than sand, filler, sand, sealer, paint, clear. very easy, just takes some time. If done well people wont be able to tell. I've never done it with the xD, and the last car i did it on had a mostly flat white (due to age). But i believe that it's doable.

 

someone hit mine in in that same spot and the screw on there license plate punctured through. there insurance paid for it but it would have cost almost 300 bucks at least that's whats the body shop quoted it at. that was paint, labor and that's it.

 

Thanks for the info. I dont know if I can go through my insurance, at least, not until I pay my deductible. I'd really like to just trade in the car and get it over with, but I'm not sure how much they'll take out for all those imperfections.
