Default can we expect more?

Can we say the xD has potential to make some good decent power or just a good daily ? xa nd gen1 xb (smaller engine/less power) but have been proven to make 200+hp with aftermarket parts. Can we expect an xd with a good 250-300hp? or is it too much to ask?

well, supposedly it is a very good car to start with because it has dual vvt-i.

the problem is you have to find the limits of the car. how much power can the engine take, how much power can the clutch take, how much power can the transmission take, how much power can the half-shafts take? how friendly is the ecu to being tweaked with a piggyback ecu to work with boost?

yea im aware of that too. Such as myself question the potential power for the xd after witnessing xb's making serious power and yet no harm to the engine, transmission ect. I think its plausible though once business goes up and produce aftermarket parts to keep engine and everything else in place

thanks

I dont see any real potential coming from aftermarket support. People are more concerned with a cars sales rather then its actual potential these days. Just another Toyota doomed to failure I guess.
And then you have the forum lurkers that just love to shoot you down for no real reason other then to make themselves feel superior cause they are the 'truth'.

Car is light and has a small wheelbase, gives it great handling capabilities in tight road courses/auto-x with the likes of the fit/yaris/cooper and gives a hp advantage over the fit and yaris with the 1.8l engine. But people don't see that cause they automatically judge the xD as a lot heavier due to more standard options then the others (as shown on paper. if you were add the same options you'd see a closer likeness). I can see it coming back to life later on in years kinda like the old b13 sentra se-r's when it becomes a cheap car to modify as a project.

A small tidbit, you can use a majority of chassis add ons for the Vitz/Yaris to get a nice rigid chassis since both are the same other then body panels and roof.

I have to agree with you on this one. Although I really like the xD, I never see them on the road. I've seen maybe a total of less than 10 since since they first came out, and I live in a pretty big city. It's good for people who have them and want to stand out, but it will hurt aftermarket support (unlike the tC where you see them at every street light).

why wouldn't you??!! i'd love to have that kinda HP. youv'e obviously never rocked the throttle on a supersport bike before! there's such a rush to accelrating that fast- and wouldn't you get some strange looks from ppl in traffic when you 0-60 in 3.25 secs. i'm not askin for a high top speed, i dont care if the car doesnt go over 90mph. but i want it to get up there QUICK.

Just sent Dezod a PM on their contact page. The message was as follows:

Dezod, I'm from here in Buffalo and a member of scionlife.com. A guy on the scionlife xD board was raving about his buddy's tC that you guys turbo'd and he mentioned that you had an actual turbo KIT for the xD.
Now, As optomistic as our board is with news like this i felt being a fellow buffalonian, i figured i'd ask to see if it was true, and be the first to be let down should it not be true. BUT, being an xD Release Series 1.0 owner, and on the lookout for a turbo, wanted to know if so, how much and if not....would you like a R&D car? Hmmmm.....
Thanks for you time and reply.

Hopefully they get back to me soon. If not, i'll stop by the shop or call. Woot!

**EDIT** Just read your post, oh well, sent anyways. Squeaky wheels get oil!

ok nothing against jjgeneral BUT... i JUST got this message from dezod, and here it is in it entirety:

Tim,At this time we have had no real request or demand for an xD turbo kit. At this moment, nothing is down the pipe line unless demand ramps up.

That's it. If JJG thinks otherwise, i guess there's hope, but as far as this reply goes, another dead end turbo. They seem to be pretty into the turbo development, and i guess i now know of a local tuner to go to when i'm ready to consider a "custom" setup. When that day comes, you all will know it, i assure you. bender out.

hmmm well maybe they wanted it hush hush. my bad if that's the case.

well there seems to be some good interest in it, if you can get a bunch of people to "petition" a turbo out of them, you might have better chances.

this motor is a great platform... we can look at over 200 hp with this motor.. .if a 1nzfe can put out 200... we surely can overcome that.. the problem with these econo engines have seemed to be the internals... i have no doubts that with a turbo and tuned we can see over 200... i have a couple options that im persuing as far as having a kit made.... if many of you havent done intake and exhaust you will feel a noticable difference in the way the car drives and pulls.....
