I'm looking to get a xD but I had a question on the order time. If you ordered it how did it take? I'm looking to get a stripped manual trans in silver, blue or red if that matters in the ordering process. All of the in stock scions I see on dealer websites are 99% automatics. If you have a manual trans xD that you ordered, what was the wait time?

I got a Magnetic Gray 5 speed manual with no options 2 weeks ago. The salesman and I could sit at a computer screen at the dealer in Anderson, IN and see all the available inventory in shipment and at dealers from Wisconsin to Kentucky. They got mine from a dealer in Cincinnati. I had to wait for 5 days.

As you stated, manual transmission xD's are much less plentiful than automatics. My dealer had none in inventory.

I think I'm in for a long wait...I ordered a red xD with a stick AND stability control. Near as I can figger, the factory makes one of these every 3 months.

Anyone out there who can give me some encouraging words?

I was considering getting the VSC but worried their might be a big wait on it. Thanks for the tip Johnmci. I'll be sticking with a base 5 speed instead.

white, manual tranny, waited zero months and zero days.

called around every dealership and they only had one, went down and put a deposit and then bought it the next day. in fact, that dealer has a red one w/5 speed manual tranny in stock right now, no VSC, though

If it makes you feel better I ordered a Blue xD manual with VSC in August. Supposedly it is going to arrive at the end of December. I plan on taking delivery on Jan 11th as I am out of the country before then.

It seems to be very hard to find with VSC. I looked all over IL and WI to find white, silver, grey, or black in either auto or manual with VSC and there were none. I thought it would be easy, but couldn't find one for about a week. I gave up and bought an XB, and glad I did

Sheesh! Sorry to hear about all your crazy wait times. I requested a manual transmission, with VSC and NO other options, and it was on the lot in less than a week. I requested gray or silver, and if I had wanted black or white, they apparently could have had it even sooner. (But apparently there aren't any barebones red or blue xDs with manual and VSC.) I believe they said there were a few in New Jersey with that option set. (Yes, I know all the options except VSC are supposed to be dealer add-on, but for some reason they still called around to find just what I requested. As if it makes any difference whether the floor mats are already installed! Whatever.)
In my experience, don't be discouraged because you think it might take a while to get your car - talk to your dealer and see what they can do, and where the closest vehicles are with your preferred features.
Good luck,
Andy

one thing u gotta remember is that only 200,000 Scions are made per year even though many more can be sold because of the demand. Working at A scion dealership even though we are currently the 2nd largest on the east coast, we rarely have every color in stock at the same time. And we have a lot compared to other dealers. We usually get one manual per 3 automatic.
Also talking to the regional Scion manager, they are cutting back on the xD's with Trac and VSC because the xD is supose to be entry level and if equiped with the Trac and VSC it turns away the targeted customers.

plus the stability control system on the xb1 sucked.

and with such a small car, VSC isn't going to help you much in the snow

i've gone through many puddles and slick roads and the stability control did nothing, except turn on the light

I went to the dealer and grabbed the manual with VSC, Black sand pearl. I love it. that is all I wanted. I may get the intake, exhaust, and sway bar. But my VSC works very well. I drove another 5 speed without and it makes a noticeable diffrence in cornering. I was actually surpprised with how much better it is once you get used to it.

VSC makes a HUGE difference in ice and snow. I know...I live in it. I have never felt so confident in a vehicle. It activates when it needs to and it puts me right back on track. The traction control is just as good. It's an excellent traction control system and does not interfere as much with the throttle as many cars do. I will ALWAYS have VSC in any car I buy. It is a proven system...As a side note, I have noticed the VSC will activate and flash the light on moderate over/understeers, but will not beep. It only beeps under severe over/understeers.

I'll heartily agree with all of that! The TC/VSC has gotten a good workout around here over the last week or so. It feels a little weird when you're not used to it, but it WORKS! Combined with some decent snow tires, that little car is amazing in snow. Lovin' it.

I ordered my xD a couple of months ago, Magnetic Metelic Grey, 5MT with only the floor matt and Pioneer Sterio upgrades and it took about 5-6 days to get released from port and shipped to the dealership here in SoCal.
