Default Do you love your xD?

After three months of driving, I can report that I love the xD. This is not my first new car, but it is now my favorite new car purchase. I love the little things that make the car a joy to drive. Despite being a small car, it really has a good amount of interior room. My stuff fits perfectly in the cargo area. I love that I can park in between two massive SUV's at the grocery store, and still leave enough room between my door and theirs to prevent door dings. I love the mute button on the stereo system, especially when going through a drive through window. I love those steering wheel audio controls. I even love the tire pressure monitoring system, which warned me two weeks ago that my right rear tire was low (I discovered a leak in the valve before it became a flat).

Share your love for the xD.

Yeah, cars sure have evolved thru the years. The xD is equipt with miscellaneous safety features I never had from my old car, like the tire monitoring system and engine oil monitoring system. But, my old car has more luxury features. I wished my xD came with a pwr sunroof and pwr seats, which my old car has. I do, however, love my Scion Navigation System, I-POD interface, the dash layout, convenience of fold down rear seats, and the gas mileage.

Well I don't know if it's love. We just met Sunday. Very nice though. Lots of standard features that are options on lots of other cars. I do like the stero controls on the wheel. Traction control is great. The MPG has got to be my favorite (37mpg) so far.
I'm use to 22mpg if I took it easy.

I love my xD Though I am sad there is no mute button on the steering wheel, but it's not that big of a deal to reach over to push the button. Very fun to drive, nimble, great roomy feel, and comfy seats! The fact that they moved the gauges back to behind the steering wheel was what really sold me on the car. Never been a fan of where it was previously on the xA.

Although it has been only 8 days, I still love my xD. It is so much better than my 14 yo Civic hb it is unreal. So many gadgets and doo-dahs to play with and adjust. The direct iPod interface is excellent, and the whole premium setup sounds great without a sub. I love to watch the instant mpg meter trying to settle between 40 - 70 for the brief stretches of city driving when I can use the cruise control. The AC blows nice and cool and is actually adjustable (the civic used to turn on the heater for 'less cool' on the AC). I'm still getting over the xD being shorter but taller than the Civic - it creates an odd driving position for me. Very much like a mini-van (a micro-van?).

For quick irritations - the shiny stereo display (difficult to see while driving due to reflected light), no pause on the stereo (to pause the 'pod), tire pressure signal not indicating which tires have issues, gas gauge 'low level' being too low (see other thread), etc....

Wow!!! I'm on the lokout for an xB... Why do you like the xD more?

(I'm torn between the two.. but leaning toward the xB bc of modifications available... and its cheaper since I'm going for a used 05 or 06.)

I love my xD! I've had it almost a month now and it just surprised me again when I went to pick up my Christmas decorations (inc. tree) at my parents and everything fit in with room to spare. Awesome car, I don't think of it as a small car at all. Nope, it's just right.

Oh, and I rode in my sister's '03 Civic and her seats were slightly better than those padded folding chairs. The D is way more comfortable!

I have a first gen xB and this is the only other Scion that interests me at all. What I am wondering:
1) The power difference between this and the xB-is it very noticeable?
2) The gearing-is this more suited to highway speeds (ie, not 3500rpm at 70mph)
3) Space-is there as much as the xB?
4)Handling-the 1st g xB is light, quick, tight-does this have that same feeling?
5) comfort-I like the seating of the original-is this similar?

as a former xb1 owner, i feel i can give my two cents.

1) there's a lot more power in the xd than the xb1, it's very noticable.
2) it's around 3300 @ 80MPG, in the xb, it was probably near 4K @ 80
3) there's more room in the xd in the rear than there was in the xb, and i took the xb camping and on road trips with about 5 passengers with all their gear/luggage. i bought a yakima roof rack to put the rest of the stuff there because the back was full all the way to the ceiling. i haven't loaded up the xd, yet, but i can tell it has about double the room the xb had.
4)most definitely. it feels peppy and nimble.
5) i think the seats in the xd are more comfortable than the xb. the only gripe i have is i can't lay the seats flat back like i could with the xb.

I LOVE MINE TOO!
every time i take anyone for a ride, they always comment on how big it is on the inside compared to the outside. i don't really think of it as a small car mainly because i've never liked small cars. the xD is in a class of it's own.

i'm finally seeing other xDs on the road. i've seen 3 red ones. i think i'm still the only black one around.

Default Do you love your xD?

I had been driving a Ford F-150 up until 3 weeks ago when I fell in love with another. A red Scion xD with the upgraded Pioneer stereo and traction control. She beckoned me to feel her power, comfort and styling. One test drive and I was hooked. I had looked at the '08 Rabbit, but the VW dealer in our area has a very poor reputation for service after the sale. I took her home, after also ordering XM radio and floor mats. She now sits next to her big brother in my driveway (the motorcycles are in the garage. I paid more for them than her!)

But seriously, my little Deviant (interesting marketing on Toyota's part) gets great gas mileage, around 35 MPG combined. Now that I have XM (can't live without the Boneyard) and the iPod interface, I am in heaven.

Yes, the seats fold totally flat, you just have to slide them all the way forward first. It's totally awesome, I had no idea either until I tried it. Then you flip back the "gap covers" and you've got a fully flat load area. One more reason to love your D!
