Default Expecting...

I feel like I should be pacing in a hospital lobby with an unlit cigar in my front pocket. Of course, I would have be wearing a dress shirt with a front pocket. Why do I have this feeling of anticipation? I will happily tell you. Tomorrow, I get my shiny new xD! I've gone from a '63 Mercury to an '89 Tempo to a '92 Crown Vic, but now...my baby is coming home!

I had considered the sport trim of a Honda Fit, but then I realized that a shrunken mini van didn't really suit me. Sure it was nice and the clutch performed well, but...It just wasn't calling my name.

So, last Saturday I hopped across town to a Scion dealer. Just looking at that xD made me grin. I tried to pretend to be inquisitive. "Oh really? What is the benefit of this feature over that other model?" "What is the expected depreciation on such a vehicle?" blah blah blah.

That man had to see the glazed look in my eyes. When he went back in the dealership to get the keys for a test drive, I hopped in the back seat to soak up some of that new car smell. (And to test the leg room for tall people) I was hooked. The cup holders were also a selling point. (None of my cars have had cup holders before)

I just hope my car let's me sleep through the night...

congrats, I am still waiting for a metallic gray to come in at my dealer for a looksie. I'm pretty much 90% on the car at this point. I too was considering the fit but the xd has a lot more going for it. was body style the main thing that opted you to go for the xd?

ah, you had a tempo too at one point? I had an 86 as my 1st car. seems like yours actually ran...

I loved my Tempo. I named it Enrique because a car that ugly needed a good name. My Tempo was blue with two white doors. That thing is still on the road. Leaks oil like crazy, but I see it around Wenatchee now and then.

Reasons why I bought the xD over the Fit.
- Size. More to this car than than Fit. It's more visible.
- Style. Need I say more?
- Standard safety features
- It's not American!
- It's pretty zippy
- Unlike a Vespa, I can drive it in winter and rain.
- It has cup holders. Lots of them. None of my cars have had cup holders.

Where are you shopping from? If you are in Seattle, go talk to Chris @ Kirkland. He made magic happen this week. Not only did he secure my perfect car, he picked it up in Tacoma himself!
