Finally found the rattle....
Sounded metallic, near the center stack. A buzzing, vibrating rattle at idle. Worse in cold weather. The other day while in reverse, it rattled steadily, enough that I could go looking.
Under the hood, in front of the steering shaft boot, are two plastic lines running horizontally.
I believe they are the vapor recovery lines from the fuel tank. They were shaking at idle. I used two tyraps to anchor their connecting hoses better, then stuffed a piece of foam between the lines and the firewall.
Peace and quiet...

I had a similar rattle actually... metallic from the center console. It would be the worst at idle, but unaffected by weather. Then I added enough quarters to fill the change cup to full and ahhhhh... no more!
