Default Gave up on stock alloys. Pics of new wheels.

So, five weeks after buying my xD with the 16" alloys, I finally got her out of hubcaps.

These 17's with tires were around the same price the dealer originally charged me for the stocks.

It was made pretty clear to me that Scion was never going to make them available, so this was the result. Honestly, I am glad it ended up this way.

It has been raining here for a couple of days. Finally got some pics:

Look for the Tanabe thread in the forum.

Couldn't you get them painted/powder coated?

Glad you guys like them! I always have liked 5 spoke wheels.

Yes, good eye jspec. Sportmax 962. I will be getting the tint done as soon as possible. The lowering, however, may be awhile.

It does need it. The tanabe moderate drop looks about right.

Fyi, I got the wheels and tires plus mounting and balancing for $900 and change here locally. The stocks were going to be $795 plus $65 for the locks. Anyone who might be waiting for the phantom 16" alloys should know that.

Very nice- thanks for posting the pix. FWIW- my dealer now says the 16" alloys are due in November. I didn't get the impression he was just guessing or (worse) putting me off.

According to my rep Toyota put a stop sale on the factory rims before they were even available. I don't get it. I still have customers waiting for them.

How come you went with the 17s instead of 18s, I thought the 18s on those rims were only about $10 a rim more.

Well, I tend to like a subtle look. I actually think that 17" wheels look better than 18" or 16". Just an opinion I guess.

I appreciate the all-out customized look that sets your car apart from all else on the road. However, I love when something is not necessarily stock, but looks like a refinement of the original design. After all, I actually like most aspects of the xD's design. These wheels actually complimented them, rather than distracting from them in my opinion.

Before you buy the wheels, how do you know if they'll look good or not? I see nice rims from SportMax, 962 and 009, but no idea which would look nicer.

Hooow doo youu knooow? [/reference to Star Wars 3 parody LINK]

I can totally see that. Anyway the rims look great, what tires did you use on them? I am considering the 18" on that same rim is there going to be an issue given that the 18s are a 38 offset?

The tires are Kuhmo Ecsta AST- 225/45/17. Nice so far. Ride seems softer and quieter than the stock tires and wheels. Although I could be making that up.

Those look great and I agree - a 1 1/2" drop would go really well with those wheels.
