Guarantee on 16" alloys?
Hi,
Based on another thread, I can tell that when my dealer calls to say my new xD has arrived, it won't have the 16" alloys I ordered. Can anyone here tell me three things?
1) What is an alloy covered for on a guarantee?
2) What is the length of Scion's guarantee?
3) Will my Toyota/Scion dealer still guarantee them if they don't arrive for a month or two after owning the car?
Thanks for any insights- I find the Scion literature and website about all this very confusing.

They can guarantee that the wheels will be round and will stay round under normal operation. Road hazard is obviously not covered. You hit a pothole - you are out $250 or so for a new wheel since they will be impossible to find elsewhere.
Honestly, don't see the need to waste money on dealer alloys - if they looked more like the ones on the iST - then maybe, but the funky looking Enkeis that they sell these days as "factory alloys" are not really worth it.
You can have your TPMS sensors moved to aftermarket alloys for free and a new set of wheels/tires can be easily procured for around $700, leaving you with a set of 16" steelies with tires to sell for at least $200-300.
Just a thought.

Thats my plan actually, buy aftermarket rims that look better than what was offered by the dealer. I have a friend who got really nice tires+rims for only $800 off of ebay. So thats a $1200 savings by not getting them through the dealer (if you were going for the 18" tires of course).
