why not get some s2k or evo seats then?

i had those fabricated in BUT did you try lowering the seat? from what i remember from my test drive you can "pump" the seat down. if that doesnt help then why not get a taller shift ****. razo or all those other "jdm" but made in china shift ***** can be 3 level adjusted for height.. my 2 cents

The tC and xB have that. The xD has a simple slide forward/back and lean set. The headrests also only go up and down LOL. It's been a while since I've had a car that didn't have the basic 8-way adjust =P

No, you can't adjust it but I actually like the seat height. I can see ahead of the car in front of me and don't feel as intimidated on the road beside SUV's compared to my old Honda Tin Can (Civic). Also, I don't have to stick out my head toward the front windsheild at every stop sign. Honestly, my friend wanted me to buy the Yaris 4 door or the Civic DX sedan because it was cheaper than xD but I just feel like I'm sitting on the floor.

One thing I don't like about the seat is how the fabrics has poor ventilation. After a 3 hour drive with the windows down, it was so hot, the entire back of my shirt is dripping in sweat once I got out. That's why I bought a bamboo seat cover which makes the ride somewhat better.

By the way, if you do listen to mike's advise and replace your car seat, can you check if those seats have an air bag inside it to protect the rear passengers. I heard a rumor it's in there.

Yes, the xD has an airbag on the outside edge of both front seats, but they are for side protection of the front seat driver and passenger, not for the rear seat passengers. If you pull the front seats you'll have to disable the airbags before removing the seats, and you'll then lose that extra protection for side collisions...

I dont want to swap the seats its to expensive for the return comfort and loss of bags. i just wanted to know if anyone had dropped the tracks or could get them to sit lower. Why are they sitting on rails that raise the seat about 3 inches? There is nothing under the seat that needs that room it just does not make sense to me.

I think the seats sit higher by design in the xD, for improved visibility. The entire design of the car is one of a taller stance; if you park your xD in a parking lot next to a row of your typical american passenger cars, and sight down the row at the roofline, you'll see that the roof height of the Xd is a good 3-4 inches higher than most of them.

If the shift lever seems too low for you, changing the shift **** to a taller one is probably the easiest thing to do. I replaced the stock ball **** on my shift lever with an oblong JDM carbon fiber ****, which raised the height of the stick a good 2".

About the only other thing I could suggest would be to purchase one of those Ab-Loungers and work a few inches off your butt, lol!

well that test drive was a year ago.... (happy birthday xB2!) i would suggest chopping the seat brackets but i would think that it would mess with the geometry of the airbag deployment. just imagine the side airbag that was supposed to be for your shoulder to fire in your face. ouch

sorry guys no luck maybe?

I think Scion raised the seat height to 3 inches so there would be room to place the car jack for the driver's seat. As for the front passenger seat, there is an air bag sensor machine under there that connects to the dashboard beside the clock display.

I plan on taking the car to a machine shop and have the seats lowered and moved back more. I'm 6'6" tall and a few more inches would be so nice.

I had this done on a Honda civiv a few years ago and it worked perfectly. It seems the seat rails on the XD are very basic, like the ones in the civic. Anyone with the right tools should be able to do this type of work, as I said a machine shop or fabrication shop. ( just check phone book and call around) On the civic the guy made new added a 3" extension to the rails so I could move the seat back an additional 3 inches. It was soooooo nice. I'm nost sure how they can lower the XD seat but I'm going to find out if they can do this.

As far as the air bag.... If I have to remove it, so be it. I've lived with small cars without air bags for years. But I doubt I will have to do that. Lowering the seat will not make a difference as to where the bag depoys. If a short person, say 5'2" inches were driving and the bag went off, do you really think it would hit that person in the same place as someone driving that is 6'6" tall?

Generally air bag "hurt" the driver and passenger. Now I not saying they dont' save lives, but air bags do hit people in the face and cause damaage all the time. But it's better than getting killed.

Anything new on being able to raise or lower the seat? I wish I was able to lower mine at least another 2-3 inches or so.

Please let us know! Thanks!

After I removed the 2 phonebooks off the seat I felt much lower unfortuntely then I couldn't see over the steering wheel. Just kidding. Before lowering my XD I felt I was sitting a bit high. It almost had a AWD 'Crossover' feel. Now that I put on my Tanabes I feel like the overall height is more car like.
