Default must be the feet

i originally bought the rack for my hyundai elantra. it was $199.00 complete with the lock cores. when i bought the new car i just bought the fit kit for the rack i already had. I think the different fore and aft position has to do with the feet. I like yours better they look more modern, but my set up only cost me 65$ this time around so i'm not complaining.

the carolina skiff j16 hull boat weight is 653 + 300 or so on the engine + trailer. should not go over 1500 and south florida is flat. The boat ramp is my only concern.

That's cool. I'm used to heavier boats and heavier trailers. Our 20 foot Shamrock weighs around 5,000 pounds, and the trailer is well over 1,000 pounds.

I just got the roof box out of the attic and put it on the xD. I had to make a little adjustment to go from the Golf to the xD because the bars are a little closer together.

I have had my xD up to the rocker panels fording flooded out roads to get to a buddy's house I was trying to help. It swims really well in moderate amounts of water.

However, I was not towing anything. Based on the weight of your boat it sounds like you're probably ok, but do remember that it is possible for a boat to pull a car into the water.

Not really. As soon as the boat is in the water, it is floating, and will not pull on the car any more. I have watched someone back a boat into the water and forget to take the gunwale strap off. The boat actually floated the trailer!
