Default How much Cargo room does an xD have?

I am wondering how much cargo room the xD has in it? I regularly make road trips from Texas to North Carolina while on leave and I am needing something that has a little more cargo room than my 05 xB. I have 2 kids so the rear seats are going to have to stay flipped up during the whole trip. What I was wondering is if anyone has any picks of their xD loaded down, I my xB has been loaded down quite a bit every trip and has never failed in it's task to get us home safely and comfortably but I am looking for something that can haul a little more stuff being the kids are getting bigger and the family thinks the xB doubles as an F150 with tons of cargo room. If anyone can show me some pics with an xD loaded down or with one with just a few large suitcases loaded int he rear laying on their sides I would be greatly appreciative. I am in Iraq right now so I am unable to get down to the dealer who is maybe 5 miles from my house back at base. I appreciate your guys time.

I just hauled two people, four boxes of books, a bookcase, a dresser with a mirror, a sofa, an ottoman, and luggage 120 miles from PA to MD last weekend with my xD.

Okay, okay... I couldn't squeeze it all in, but I got it all in one trip!

The cargo space is big enough for two, if they're not stiff yet. Three, if you cut 'em up and put 'em in bags.

Gen 1 xB, hmmm? I will try to get a pic of my '05 next to my bro's xD and show you the difference.

As i recall, the xD had MORE cargo space... :p I vividly remember feeling jealous when we test-drove the car.

I will report back soon!

Wow...I don't know if that's just the angle or what, but that looks like a whole heck of a lot more room than my xA has... and from what I've seen the xA and 1st gen xB aren't TOO far off in the rear cargo area.

proto, if you really need the space, you could fold down the 1/3 section and make one kid sit in the middle. Could be asking for trouble, though.

I fit a giant suitcase and two duffle bags in my xD plus four people fairly comfortable without adjusting the seats. so it's your call.

I believe the xD has slightly less storage space than the gen1 xB in terms of cubic footage, but it is more usable IMO because the xB's space is mostly vertical. The xD's space feels a little wider and deepr (but not by much).

Default noob here

I am new to this forum. I actually don't have an xD yet. My husband and I are looking at cars, but both liked the xD best despite it's lack of cargo. Could someone who has an xD give me the dimensions (not cubic) of the cargo area with the seats down. We are campers and would like to see if we could even fit our stuff if we got the xD. I just need interior width and lengh with the seats down. Also, if you have an pics with your car all packed up that would be cool too! I really really want this car!

thanks in advance!

The floor from hatch to the backs of the front seat is about 55". (gets shorter as you move up because the front seats will angle back a bit and the hatch angles forward)
The floor between the rear doors is about 50" at the door grab handles.
The floor between the wheel wells is almost 40". It is wider in front of, behind, and above the wheel wells.
The height near the front seat backs is about 32".
The height near the hatch is about 28".

If you have "dirty" stuff that you don't want to put inside the car when you are camping, there is another alternative:

What kind of camping stuff are we talking about here? I've got a mountain of it, and I can just toss it in the back of my bro's xD. That would be like four minutes of work. :p

Default camping

we don't rough it camp like some do. we have a tent, a new screen tent we would like to use, sleeping bags, lanterns, basic supplies (usually in a tote). I just was most worried about the length of our tent bags. specifically our screen tent. i am so determined to make it work! thank you everyone!

Now that I think about it, I hauled myself and two average sized friends to Pismo a while back in my xA.
We carried all of our gear, snacks, two tents, 3 sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, portable grill, utensils, and misc gear (dc-ac power converter, big flashlight, first aid kit).

We got it all to fit. The tents looked like these:

Coleman family sized tent

Coleman 1-2 person tent

We stacked the tents in the back of the hatch, then piled the grill on top, squeezed in the misc gear, utensils, and sleeping bags up on top of that. We crammed in the blankets and pillows in whatever nooks we could find in the back, and spread a blanket down the back of the car. The snacks stayed in the back with one of my friends.
We were determined to keep the rear seats up as much as possible. I was surprised what I was able to fit in the back...granted it did look like it was going to fall down if I opened the hatch (we took some stuff out before opening it), and my rear window was useless, but we got it all to fit!

....and then my other friends that arrived in the sentra decided to rent a hotel room. Damn Nissan drivers....

lol....that is funny!

anyways-yeah i stood next to my screen tent bag last night and it is way shorter than i previously thought. it will totally fit the length of the back-with the seats down.

although, i am loving the idea of the platform hitch. that might be something i highly consider. it is either the bikes or stuff though. something we would have to discuss.

thanks for insight and a good laugh. i have had some fun reading posts here (yeah, i know...stalker)

Suggestion: get a roof rack. With a roof rack and a hitch, there is not much you can't do with this car. For example, I went to Florida recently with my 3 kids, 700 miles each way with one week's worth of luggage for 4 people on the roof and trunk and two bicycles on a hitch-mounted bike rack.
