How much do you pay for insurance?
Yup! Outside of the XD having more power, better equipped standard, and styling better than the Fit, I was on the fence on which to buy. Checking with insurance showed the Fit was cheaper than the XD for a policy. The difference was negligible, but I asked why. They said probably it was because replacement parts were more expensive on the XD.
The Fit shines in cargo volume. The xD is what, 11 cubes, 35 with the seats down? Thats actually less than the tC, which seems rather odd for a boxy hatchback.
The magic put the Fit at 21 with the seats up, 57 with them down. I've seen pics of people putting full sized dryers in them. I was really concerned about cargo space when I bought it, having had an Element before, but after 18 months with it, I never really used the cargo volume except when I was moving, so I figured I could live with the modest 15 ft^3 and 35 ft^3 max.
But that's beside the point here.
As far as the rate, that's super expensive compared to what I had before - I'm 29/divorced, with no incident on my driving record aside from a speeding ticket and low-speed at-fault collision (2003 and 2004 respectively), but living in Cali makes it pricy.

EDIT: just remembered what they mean on the Fit. If you push the front passenger seat forward and recline it that should free up the rest their referring to. Which I guess would be good for lumber or bed rails? I remember thinking that was neat, but not practical for much.
Again off subject, but the difference in cargo between the two is ~6 cubic feet. Fit:41.9^3ft XD:35.7^3ft. For some reason Edmunds says maximum 57 cubic feet for the Fit then turns around and says 41.9 cubic feet with the rear seat down in their article. In the video they compare the two cars and outright say the difference is 6 cubic feet. Whatever it is I don't miss it. I fit my 52" lcd in the XD without issue.

I'm 27. Haven't had any accident or ticket in 5+ years. I have always been insured.
I'm driving a 2008 Scion XD with the following insurance:
100/300 Bodily Injury and Uninsured Motorist
50 Property Damage Liability
Comp and Coll $500
And everywhere I quote I get $800-$1000 for 6 months!
I read online how people only pay that for an entire year. It seems Collision is where the biggest price difference is. But this car is too new to take off collision insurance and I still owe another $5k on the car.
I live in Los Angeles and was curious what you all are paying and what your break down is.
I'd love to lower my insurance but I can't seem to figure out how. If I play with the Bodily Injury and Uninsured all it does is lower by a few dollars which isn't worth it.
Only removing collision seems to bring me down to prices I hear other people pay.
I'm currently paying $942 with 21st. Geico can get me to $860 with $1000 deductible. Still not much of a difference. I could cut it down to $760 by having 15/30 bodily injury but that is just a death sentence for so little savings. If I raise my deductible to $500 I'm at $900 which is only a $40 difference from my 21st century insurance.
So I've shopped around and the most I'm saving for similar insurance is $50-$100. Not really worth the hassle. What am I doing wrong to get those sweet car insurance prices? Or is the Scion XD just a ____ load to insure.
So what do you pay? Who are you insured with?

I dont think so. I just pay what is required by law and the state of California. so I pay about $50 each month, which i divide in two payments of $25 two times a month. one on the first of the month and another payment on the 15 of the month. when i was with Geico I used to pay like $700 for 6 months, that was before my car was payed off.
I haven't even been with my insurance company for a full yr and the price is pretty cheap. once I turn 23 or 25 ill get another discount plus other ones. i know about friends that have the same insurance company as mine and they pay way less than me.
I have AAA insurance: $380/yr, liability, uninsured motorist (plus that amount covers up to $3500 in collision - damage on my end if a uninsured motorist hits me). I had full coverage, but it was $770/yr. This was speced at driving 10-12K miles per year. If I could get my milage slightly under 10K, then the #'s come down about 17% !
ready for this nonsense, 23 with 2 accidents, neither are my fault, but both were hit and runs and never caught either driver so i got to pay deductible and it went on my accident record.
290/mo. and a bunch of companies wont even write me.

I pay 23dollars a month for full coverage on the TC . If I add the f250 the Fj and the boat they all total 940 a year full covarge on all of them..

$122 a month. I had my first "at fault" accident about four years ago. Wasn't my fault at all... a 16-year-old girl t-boned the RV I was driving. She was speeding, talking on the phone, and didn't have her license with her. The cops on the scene said it was totally her fault. Somehow, the state of PA decided I was at fault and that's what's on my record. No other accident in my (nearly) 20 years of driving. Gotta love insurance companies.
1 accident, my fault over 5 years ago that was claimed and my insurance is about 200 bucks a month. Full coverage and sounds similar to the coverage you have above. Can't wait till next year when I turn 25.
