Default I got mine... silver xD! (pics)

I love the new xD, no matter what the haters say. I was going to buy a first gen xB and just never got around to it. Now that the body style on that has changed, I wasn't sure what to get. I test drove both the xD and the tC, and really, I like the fact that with the seats folded down you can haul more stuff. I am old though, so maybe that has something to do with it. I might undertake a few mods, but I guess I have to wait and see what people come up with.

So what kind of rims do you suggest? And is there a good place to order from online?

I'll be honest, none of the photos I've seen so far have been very impressive. However, your car looks very good in silver. How do you like the setup of the interior? That's my one remaining concern about this car; it just seems that my dear xA has must more to offer inside than I've been able to see of the xD in photos.

In any case, congratulations on your new car, and enjoy it well.

looks real nice in silver. I actually like the front end better than the JDM Ist, looks a little like Ultra Man.

I like the layout of the inside. But then again, I don't have a tuner bone in my body. The speed/tach gauge is awesome. My other car has a junky, basic speedometer that lights up pale yellow. So when I turned the key on the xD and that gauge fired up for the first time, I was hooked. The speedometer is white, and the tach is red. But it lights up like it's digital. I will take some pics and show you what I mean.

The fuel gauge and odometer are red, and match the stock stereo, clock and air conditioning panel **** lights All of the colors match inside the dash when lit at night. Which is cool. My other car is a sickly yellow and the clock and radio aren't quite the same shade. It looks like someone threw up glowstick juice inside the dash. I loved my old car, but the xD is a step up for me on the interior.

My only complaint would be about the lack of an armrest for the drivers seat. I got used to resting my arm on the center console in my other car, so it will take some time to get used to not having one.

The seats have a nice amount of cushion to them. And when you slide the back row forward and fold them down, you get a surprising amount of space back there.

I am going to run out and take some night pics for you guys. Daytime dash pics to follow tomorrow.

This is the dash at night. I think the layout works pretty well.

This is the speedometer that I read somewhere wasn't getting very good reviews. When you start the car, the red needles sweep back and forth once over the field, and then the gauge itself lights up in a sort of computer screen effect.

The materials on the inside are new to me. The dash and door panels are covered in what feels like rubber. It has a texture to it. The center of the dash where the radio sits is framed with a shiny black plastic, almost mirrored it's so shiny. This material also appears on the door panels around the window switches. You have three cupholders in the center console and one "popout" cupholder on the passenger side of the dash.

There is a small compartment on the drivers side for storage, and an upper and lower glovebox. Plenty of closed storage. The seats in front are bucket style, and I am a big guy, but the seats are big enough to be comfortable. And as I said earlier, they have a good amount of cushion. There were no floormats, even though I read an article that said they were standard. Did I get ripped off? I wasn't going to buy scion branded matts until I shopped around a little.

The car came with an iPod cable, so I plugged mine in and tested it out. Great sound even with the stock player/speakers. The steering wheel audio controls are handy. There isn't a good place to put the iPod though, so I will probably be shopping for a mounting bracket.

I want to get the four side windows tinted very soon. And I am looking for some rims. That's it for now I guess until the real mod geniuses start posting ideas. Sorry if this is too much information. I tend to ramble.

Default Center console

Hello there,

I'am a new XD owner as well. Just got my black 5 speed 3 days ago. I love it so far!
Regarding the center console; it can be found in the accesories catalog and is announced for "fall 2007". I look forward to getting one as well.

As for the the stock stereo. I am satisfied with its performance, Ipod connection and capability to play mp3's from CD. The navigation through folders make it really easy to find specific artists or tracks.

What gas mileage do you get? I have put 270 miles on my car with mixed driving (city, freeway and some fun backroads), according to the onboard computer I am getting 33.3 mpg!
Heck of a lot better than the 21 mpg I got out of my 97 Golf!

Good luck with your new car!

I put 15 miles on mine today driving it from the dealership home. I still have that new car scent in my nostrils. I will get a chance to drive some tomorrow hopefully. I might have to make up an excuse to get out of the house.

Nice!
We are getting Nautical Blue but silver was a close second choice.
Agreed that tint and alloys are the minimum mods.
What's the deal with the temp. gauge anyway? This is like the only car I've ever heard of that doesn't seem to have one....
