I think it's done.
ok, so a few months ago I hit a pot hole, it was big. it broke off a piece of my rim, ripped a hole in my tire, bent my control arm.
I've had it all fixed, and after a few alignments, my xD still turns right when I drive. so the wheel place tells me that my drivers rear wheel has a positive toe of .49 degrees (the passenger side is .02). the xD has a non-adjustable rear end, and they don't make a shim for it. so either the axle is bent or the frame in the rear.
I think if it's the frame that my xD is done
Thursday I'm going to drop my xD off at my mechanic (trust worthy one at that) and find out if it can be fixed, or if I should just trade it in.

Maybe a body shop can yank/crank it back into spec. Try to find one that uses laser alignment. Also don't they make rear hub spacers for the XD? Could get one and take it to a machine shop to have it custom planed to your needs.
Many pickup trucks and other trucks use solid axles.. They have to be bent
to be adjusted. I'm sure you could find the right shop that can bend or repair the rear if that is whats causing the issue..

Verdict is in, bent frame and axle. about 3K to repair.
since my family has grown since i got the D and my need for a big family car (something that can handle the car seats and the stroller and still have trunk space for groceries and whatnot) has also grown, i think at this point i'm going to start looking for a new car.
i'm very sad to get rid of the D but i think it's time for me to move on.

What are you looking at? I would suggest a Pontiac Vibe because it's the same as the Matrix. Through a joint venture called NUMMI, Toyota built the Vibe for GM, and because it's a Pontiac you should find a good price on one. 1.8L or 2.4L plus the extra room would be good gas mileage plus extra room for the growing family, and they have an awd version though it only comes in automatic.
My wife has a matrix, and it's just enough room. personally i was looking at a gently used Subaru Outback, 5 speed. the hard part is finding one that's 5 speed.
the idea of all wheel drive is alluring to me, and it has a lot more room than the matrix. i know fuel economy will be crappy due to all wheel drive, but i think i can off set it a bit with the 5 speed.

Subarus are nice, and they have a variety of wagons to choose from. (Outback/legacy or the forester or my favorite the impreza hatch) Don't forget about Volvo, they too have a nice wagon. I hope your insurance covers the cost with the XD.
Update!
ok, so after being lowballed by various dealers, i finally found one that was willing to deal. So first thing Monday morning, i willing dropping my xD off and saying goodbye to my hot hatch.

Thank you everyone for your input.
Today i sold my xD to a dealer, it was very difficult to do. I'm one sad car-less individual.
i thought about the new B, but it's too tall for me. i've found i like sitting low in low cars, like my old accord (96) and the camry (99) that i borrow from my dad from time to time. so that's why i'm looking at older cars.

You could always say "F" it all, and wait and get the FT-86. I mean whenever there's a family trip, you could take the wife's car. Yes, I currently am contracting out for the devil.
Hope you find what you like! Good luck.
