Default Insuring the xD

Tried calling Nationwide this morning - they've added the car to my policy, but don't have the rate available yet - asked me to call back in 2 days...

Anyone else having issues like that?

Ya, that's probably bout right... it's just too new. Most places won't have it in their system for a while now I bet.

Nationwide finally gave me a quote - $1600/6mo. That's compared to $500/6mo that I'm paying for my 350Z. Actuaries on crack, obviously - had to call them and get them to apologize. Should have a better rate in a day or two.

^^^ Yes, at least it should be less than a 300hp 2-door 2-seater that costs double of what xD does.

it must be nice living out where you guys are... when I insured my civic back in 2000, it cost me 3400 a year... I was told the xD is going to be roughly 1600 a year...

btw zoltiz, yes I have the same issue my insurance company listed the xD on my policy but had no price for it... so I can only guess as to how much its really going to be...

I'm having the same issue getting my xD insured. My agent said that the only model she could find was the xB. She updated my policy with the xB information, said it shouldn't be a problem for the time being until the system is updated seeing as how the VIN is correct.

I guess I did not post an update... Nationwide apologized and gave me a ~$400 for 6mo with full coverage and 300K liability. $65/mo I can live with.

They're over the quarter of a century threshold ;-) Makes a world of difference from what I've heard.

My insurance quoted me at the same as my Honda Civic before I bought the xD but when I went to actually change my policy yesterday they said online that I had an invalid vin and model. Hopefully it will be worked out tomorrow, I know I'm covered but it still makes me nervous not having the xD printed on the insurance card.

Default GAP and Lo Jack

My insurer quoted me a good deal with Loan/Lease Payoff Coverage AKA GAP Insurance added to my full coverage policy- dealers hose people on GAP. I'll also get a discount if I get Lo Jack installed.

Your insurance rates are determined on driving history and credit score. Taking out a new loan on a car is going to adversely affect your credit score for insurance rates. $80 a month is miraculous if you have full coverage or are about 45 years old.

You might as well have scored a 1600 on the SATs. I would expect to pay between $1000-1500 per year on this vehicle.

I have been with the same insurance agent since I was sixteen, and my parents have been with them for at least 30 years. I have liability, uninsured motorist and underinsured motorist coverage. I am in my thirties, so that probably helps, but I also have no speeding tickets, no wrecks and multiple policies through the same agent which qualifies me for a multiple policy discount. After three years with my other car, I qualified for a safe driver discount that lowered my insurance to $65 a month.

I realize this is different than what I paid when I was younger, but I also have two life insurance policies and renters insurance to pay now. They get your money somehow.
