Kids & xD
I'm looking into an xD and want one bad, but my wife does not think there is enough room for 3 kids. Does anyone have kids with an xD and what is your take on this?
I have 2 teenagers, and they fit fine. Don't forget, it's always comfortable for the driver even when there are 3 in the back. Realistically though, it may be too small for 3 kids as the primary car if it were used for vacations, etc. Not enough cargo room for luggage and the lot for 5.
true that theres not enough cargo room, but being a college student, and having friends who are equal in age/restlessness/size i can say that everyone seems to enjoy riding in my car (even if someone has to sit in the middle.) the cargo room isn't HORRID, it's amazing how an impromptu costco shopping trip can turn into a "oh my god is this even going to fit in my xD?"
it did
it did
I had this same question when considering the XD. I've got three soon to be teenage sons. I drove home my new XD a week ago.
My thinking was that most times it's just me or maybe 2 other passengers in the car anyways, so space will be fine. If all five of us go on a short trip (hour or less) we'll take the XD, but I'm expecting a few complaints about elbow room in the back .
Any real long trips or vacations, we'll take our van instead.

again, I haven't had complaints about elbow room in the back of my car, and a few of my friends are quite tall so there would be no problem with even taking adults...but. the xB is roomier so if youre that worried about it, then i say go for the xB

it has a pretty nice bench seat in the back, but if you're only looking for a car for good transportation/fuel efficiency then i say an xB or any other toyota family car. lol they'll all have more room than the xD and more luggage space. maybe check out the matrix if youre into the hatchback look
I agree, i think the xB would be a better fit for 3 kids, altho i have had 2 teenagers and a baby seat in the back and it wasn't bad, it was tight don't get me wrong, but if you're only going for a short drive (i'ld say less than an hour) isn't bad.

I have three kids ages 2.5, 4.5, and 5.5. My 2 1/2 yr old is still in a booster, and all three of them fit in my back seat just fine. My kids LOVE our xD.
I have all of them with us on grocery runs and with our back seats ability to slide forward, we have plenty of room for 3 little bodies in back and a month of groceries. GO FOR THE D if you really like it, I have no regrets seriously.
I strongly suggest getting a dual screen DVD player for the back of the front seat headrests, kids are quiet, still, and with the learning dvds i put in for them, they have memorized all this trivia! SOOOOOOO worth the $150, and thats for a cheap-o like i got. REAR SEAT DVD w/kids = WORTH GOLD.
