moving on
After 1 year and 4 months, over 120k miles, almost 400 tanks of gas, and 12-16 hours a day with my xD, it is time to move on. This car has been exceptionally reliable, and has served me well through all conditions that could be encountered in the continental US, Canada, and Alaska. While I never had time to fix that dash rattle most xD's seem to have, there was nothing else that needed my attention, except for the consumables (air filters, oil, brakes, tranny fluid). Heck, the original alternator belt is still on and hasn't had a tension adjustment since I picked up the car from the dealership. Same can be said for the timing belt (I would think I should've changed it 60k miles ago, but with no mention of it in the manual, I didn't bother). Also, the spark plugs haven't been touched the entire time.
While the xD could swallow quite a bit of cargo, a new project I am onboard requires carrying a bit more than what the xD and a cargo box can fit, so it is time to part ways with my beloved car. It will now go to my brother who will learn how to drive stick and carry his garage band gear. I will move onto a mazdaspeed 3, and drive the bejesus out of that, until the turbo blows up or I end up stranded in the middle of the desert due to some other part failure, whichever comes first.
