Aw! Did you take off the hubbies since you're going to buy new wheels already or what?

I'm thinking of taking the spare out of mine since I have AAA and never drive out to the middle of nowhere lol. That would be a decent amount of space for that one sub that fits the hole. It's made by someone on here actually.

Actually, I didn't have the wheel covers yet! I was at the dealer so late that the parts department where they stored the covers was closed heh. I had to go home with no covers or stereo

I don't think I'll do wheels on the D for now... it's going to be a family car so we're trying to keep the ride from getting too rough...

I'd rather wear out the stock tires THEN get new tires. Honestly, you just paid for the tires, get the use out of them first.

I'd have to agree with the lowering though. It makes the car look but better even without rims.

Well, for me the first mod is always tint. That will come here pretty quick.

Now, if it were just me, I'd have lowered the car and put on rims already, heh! Alas, when one is married those kinds of things must be approved by both parties. Besides, given we're going to have a baby in the back seat we don't need the stiff ride.

I'm looking more at interior mods for the time being. Stereo work is very close around the corner. I have the green light to do just about anything I want as long as I don't kill the cargo capacity. Just means I get to be creative! What I really need are the measurements on the cargo cover so I can build a sub mount like the one slodeanis has... I must say, I really miss my W6... do I really need a spare tire?

I'm thinking of chucking the spare since I have an AAA membership and rarely drive out of cell tower range

Tint is practically mandatory for SoCal.. honestly I feel my skin burning already when its sunny down here! I have enough freckles already.. I don't need anymore lol.

Well you don't have to lower, but maybe switching tire sizes would help smooth out the ride so you don't jostle the precious package in the back Also I would rather have the cargo cover itself and have a subbie placed in the spare tire hole, like the one guy was trying to do a while ago but on the spare tire.

Any recommendations on tires/wheels? I'd like to put some nicer wheels on but I have to make sure the ride and noise are at least the same.

I'll figure out the sub thing... I was also thinking of just a small box that I can easily toss in and out of the car as needed. As long as it's easily removable my wife won't kill me ;)

I'm hoping to do tints tomorrow... we'll see. I might just wait till I get paid this month.

I'd lower it on TRD springs, and get a nice set of big-lip chrome 5 spokes (wide spokes, or split-spoke design (10 spokes, spaced like 5 spokes)) in 17x7.5 with 215-45 tires.

What's your budget?

The xD is great fun lil car to run around in...

As far as the wheels and such go, budget isn't too much an issue, but being as we're saving for a new house, less is more. I figure I could throw 1000 at em and come out with something decent. Like I said, though, ride and road noise are #1 priority here so nothing can go on that will make it harsher.

I was thinking 17's since the size looks good on an xD and the selection is huge. I'm pretty partial to 5-spokes as well.

Personally, if you're going to lower it and enjoy taking corners a little quick every now and then. I'd invest in some good tires, such as the neo gens that I have. Unfortunately, you'll pay for them. I would personally get a set of chrome 5-spokes with a big lip and offset around +45. You'll be pleased.

Well tell me what you think about this... I did some research and I really like Nitto Invos... They come in a 225/45R17 and 225/40R18. Now believe it or not the 18" tire is very close in overall diamater to the xD's stock tires so spedo wouldn't be off too much, as are the 17's. The Invos also come highly recommended from a number of sources for noise and feel, while still maintaining traction... I'm hoping the extra width wouldn't make them rub, though...

Then the next step would be to research springs and shocks... maybe something with a higher rebound spring rate so it's softer on the bounce back.
