Default New xD Owner... A little dissapointed

TL;DR

xD issues

Engine Rattle - There is a TSB out for this, but no longer under warranty so cannot do repairs and cannot find a decent DIY to do it myself. Cam Gear needs to be replaced (F**king toyotas...)

Brake issue in extreme cold weather - There is a recall for this, unfortunately my state is not on the list for 'recalls', meaning, Scion expects my state to be warm for eternity, even though I live in VA.

Alternator - Intermittent bearing whine? Not too sure what this could be. Heard a whining noise going with the RPMs for a few days, went away after three days.

I cannot say Toyota is the same company that they used to be. Next car will definitely be a Honda.

I have an 09 and bought the D in VA and still live in VA. I took it in about a year or two ago to get that part changed. If I remember correctly you can just use this website and enter your VIN to check to see if yours needs the part changed out. Also, I haven't had a problem with any engine rattle on either my D or my ex's 09 Corolla S. The only thing I can say about the ABS is the system is very sensitive. https://secure.scion.com/scion/ssl/recall/vinLookup.do
