Default Problems with Illumination Kit

I recently had an illumination kit installed, and while it lights up the cup holders in the console, it barely puts any light off in the floor. It is supposed to light up the floor in the entire front half of the car based on pics in Scion's accessory brochure.

The dealer said they're not sure why its not working in the xD and that the kits in the previous models (xA, xB, etc) do illuminate brightly.

Has anyone else had this problem?

With dome light off and eyes used to the dark it can be brighter

On a serious note - look under the dash and make sure that the tubes are visible and that the reflector on the tube (looks white on the outside of the tube and silver if you look through the tube) is positioned correctly and actually reflects the light instead of blocking it.

I had an amber kit in my tC and it was pretty dim unless I did some creative photography... Aluminum pedals also improve the way the illumination looks.

I opted to not buy illumination kit for the xD and instead got 2 15-led blue strips off eBay for $19.97 shipped. Will wire them up to the door sills and call it a day (they will turn on when I open the door and will go off 15 seconds after the door is closed).

In my bf's car he used cold cathodes under his dash and they're pretty bright. He also made a switch to turn them on or off but most of the time they're on at night lol.

I thought it would be fun to do the lights in the cup holders but never thought of using strips of leds to get that effect.

OMG! Same for me..I took my Scion to have that installed on August 6th and the cup holder lights work fine (any idiot can put those in correctly) but the one on the passenger side you can barely see, and the driver side you cant see at all! Even it complete darkness! Have some one adjust the positions of them..My dad had to move mine around and bring them forward..They put them on with zip ties or something so its not that hard to redo yourself!
