Rear speaker mod?
Has anyone considered installing speakers in the panel between the rear windows and the hatch?
It seems like there is enough depth for a decent 5.25" or 6.5". A custom cut and mounting plate would need to be created.
What do you guys think? I have been looking at this from day one. I dont like having all of the music coming from in front of me.

Yeah, I actually did that too with no satisfying result. The front seats block so much of the sound. I think those speakers are worthless.
Its funny that I am getting the bug to build a system in this car. I put my first one together before I could even drive. I gave up when I was 20 after every build was stolen. If I do anything in this car it will be completely stealth. No boxes with 12's or anything. That is why I think this rear speaker install could really help.

hey man me too!! ive been tinkleling with they idea also and i don't even have mine yet! yeah you can add 6.5 inchers, even 5x7 inchers wich offer 3 and 4ways. i've been at they dealer so many times i've memorised the locations for speakers, since you are NOT adding a box consider a custom panel ON THE HATCH. speakers on the door, i did it on my old scion xb, i had 4 5.5" and 2 6x9" 3ways! .... sorry no pics.

Before you start cutting. Make sure to consider your hatch components. Like your rear windshield motor and hatch lock. I thought about doing it, but I didn't want to make any cuts in my car.
