Default Scion to Honda: The Fit is No

Anyone seen this banner ad? I've seen it on Kelly Blue Book's Web site.

I was browsing FitFreak.net and saw a thread about it. Pretty brazen of Scion, I think.

I posted a poll over at www.SubcompactCulture.com to see what people think: xD or Fit? Feel free to weigh in!

Like I posted over at FitFreak.net, I think it's a bold move indeed, and a needed move. Scion needs to do something to keep its brand image strong. Although I haven't driven either vehicle (I've driven the first-gen Fit, no the second), I do like both vehicles at face value.

WOW! Didn't see that coming. Pretty bold indeed. However, based on sales, the xD isn't even on Honda's radar.

Also, the reality is that both cars are FAR from popular in the young tuner crowd... Unfortunately for Scion, The Fit never claimed, or aimed to be.

The Fit is more than happy to sell to soccer moms and young tuners alike.

The xD desperately needs to keep its young, bad boy, tuner car rep... Before Scion decides to axe it completely.

Thats funny considering every xD i've seen on the road thus far has been driven by women in their 30s and up there (lady in her 50s was staring at my car in a parking lot for about 2 minutes next to her xD, i think she was confused by my iSt emblems lol) minus the people I've met at car shows.

I do admit I would have bought a Fit if the Honda dealers weren't such stuck up pieces of crap around here. I'm sure they're regretting it now with car sales right now
Honda sales are poop now too though, so much so that they had to quit F1 series racing from lack of funds.

That is ballsy by Scion. I really like the Fit. I'd buy one if I could.

The fitfreak link doesnt work.

The Fit is a very nice car. It definitely has better visibility and a little more storage room than the xD. But it costs a bit more, and to get traction and stability control on it you have to buy the $2000 navigation package trim level. (whereas traction is standard in all scions and VSC is usually standard, an option on the xD). That's what the deciding factor was for me.

The Fit 2009 is a decent car (I considered it before the xD 09). But I agree that ad is quite brazen. Ballsy. And hey if it works.... there's nothing wrong with aggressive marketing.

those guys are pretty butt-hurt about the ad, lol.... calling a tC a toyota camry, comparing TRD parts with APC, and saying dealer accesorizing is like shopping at hot topic, lol.

My brother bought a Fit a few weeks before I got my xD. It is a nice car... tons of cargo room with those contortionist back seats. The Fit's dash looks more impressive... but I kinda like the more plain look since I have to stare at it for hours every day. Obviously, the xD looks a lot more muscular than the Fit... but looks are pretty subjective... I mean, people actually bought Pontiac Aztecs!

Dollar for dollar, my brother's Fit and my xD were just about the same... but he got Nav and I got TRD options.

the name fitfreak really fits over there (no pun intended), i was surprised to see as much scion bashing as i did, and just for the sake of bashing scions! I think generally when we criticize fits or any other car for that matter, we usually have SOME kind of constructive/real reason for saying so, not just "scions are for losers, and their TRD parts suck like hot topic and abercrombie just because"...(read the thread over there u'll know what i'm talking about)

that bothers me, be a hater with some reasons at least! my God! lol
