Default So xD's Peeps

I want truthful answers; please :D

How do you guys and gals like your xD's?

Reason why I'm asking is; my sister might of (Insurance conflicts at the moment: But she still doesn't know yet. I guess Wisconsin has state law: Any cars over 105k in accidents are stated totaled. ) totaled her '04 Mitsubishi Galant. Some dumba$$ didn't pay attention and rear ended her. I know she's interested in another import but she might go with something more cheaper. And I was thinking Scion: since they are cheaper than typical import, it's a Toyota, No haggling & pure pricing, good on gas. I might try to convince her with a Scion since I am on my second; didn’t have major problems. I know Toyota Financial can finance the major maintenance checks now. I guess she was interested getting new Galant but Mitsubishi jacked up the price that kind of turned her away. I know ‘08 Lancers are pretty nice since my older brother got one few months ago so she might get one of those if she goes with Mitsubishi? But who knows?

Mitsu stepped up pricing on the gallants and lancers ... I guess that makes them more competative? They made them both bigger too I think

My xD ...

Pros:
Gas savings
Unique styling - yes, that's my opinion
More power than the other econo-wagons its size
Fold down seats reclaim some of that lost space in the back when needed
Easy to customize, and not just through the dealer. Getting parts and doing it yourself is so much easier.

Cons:
It is small, but you buy it knowing you're buying a small car
Not a whole lot of power, but again, you buy it knowing its not a Bugatti
Center seatbelt storage is poorly concieved
The texture on the dash shows all marks, even the lightest grazes from a hand.

I really do like the car. I enjoyed test driving it, and when I had to make a snap decision on a cheaper car, both in financing and insurance, the xD was my no brainer. Insurance was my primary reason for buying a new car, so my other options were a Fit, an HHR, or something in the used realm that would be so much less on monthly payment I could eat the insurance costs for a few months.

I love mine
i've had it for two weeks
so far i have 2300 miles on it

- I have taken it for a road trip to canada
- bought a decent sized grill and transported it from store to home
- taken 3 trips from home to 2.5 hour away destinations

Powerwise i used to have a tC and now have xD
i don't greatly miss the power because it's lighter and more nimble then the tC was

I really like the seating position

I got my car with Navigation, TRD suspension (shocks & springs), upgraded steering wheel

I am super happy with the purchase.

I love my xD so much. It's much nicer than my '99 Corolla I was driving around for 4 years. I can actually fit adults in the back witohut having to scoot my seat up! :D Though the door opening is a bit small for um.. rounder people.

Though now since I have a small gash in my front bumper from road debris, I'm upset with how cheap it is. In the 4yrs with my corolla I never had something like that happen to my front bumper, but in little over a month I have a small gash in my xD. LINK

Now its probably a good idea before she buys it to find a clear bra installer and see how much its going to cost her. I would do a full protect on the car btw. On the link someone said that my damage might've been lessened had I had a clear bra on.

Hehe, I'm just sour that this happened to my car is all The xD is a great little car and I'm happy I have it as mine. It has enough pick up for me (not power hungry) and its roomie enough for lots of stuff when I go shopping.

I'm a fairly heavy driver (hoping to change that next yr) and my xD has over 4k on it now.

I have no major complaints. All the other posts above are very valid and true (its a small car / its not super powerful but does the job etc) but to this I would add that for the money it packs a lot of features and scores well on safety too. It was pretty much between this and the honda fit for me and I went with the xd because of the upgrade to nav, the increased power, different styling, optional interior illumination and digital trip info (very handy to see instant fuel comsumption though its always 1-2mpg off, its still a good guide).

It doesn't get as good mpg as my old honda did but its still formidable-- I've been getting over 30 mpg every time.

The stereo is the best stock stereo I've had in a car in this price range.

What I would recommend is for your sis to definitely test drive it, see how she likes it, 2x if possible. I'm 6' tall and a big guy and sometimes on long trips my accelerator foot can get cramped, but cruise control for long straight stretches helps. Overall though I am digging it.

That xD is brand new, the Carmax near me sells brand new Toyotas & Chevys. That's where I got my two Scions.

I'm liking my new xD more and more each day. I had a drive to the airport on uncluttered roads yesterday (early flight) and I am ashamed to admit I haven't found the handling limits of the car yet. I kept thinking I was going to find them, but the car handles high speed corners like a champ.

I'm very impressed.

Oh yeah, its inexpensive, looks sweet, has an awsome interior, and I have yet to figure out all the cool stuff the radio can do. Definitely worth it.

There are some other locations in the US that sell new cars. In fact, the other new Toyota Carmax is in Maryland. I guess Carmax calls them "Superstores" and used small locations "Satellite Stores." The one near me first started off as a private owned auto mall dealer (They sold Toyota, Chevy, Ford, BMW, and Mitsubishi on the same lot) and I guess Carmax offered a deal to take over and they did. Something like that.

I think the xD is a great bang for the buck. I love the car, just wish that it had a little more power for scooting around town.

Oh God, don't start that. That's how we ended up with a bloated xB.

Yup, power is pretty adequate. 5-speed helps with "scooting around" if you really have to.
