Default Steamy windows!! (not what you think...)

Ok so, it's been ridiculously cold here in Connecticut all month.. I've noticed, that in my '08 xd which I bought in August, so this is my first winter... that the windows fog up like crazy when I turn the heat on. Every window in the car gets to the dangerous point of where I can't see anything at all.. and rolling the windows down and back up only does so much.
Is this a common problem with anyone else? As of right now.. I can't have the heat on any other setting but window vents.. and even then it only clears up the front windshield.. no other window. I can't see myself continuing on like this... it's very dangerous.. I'm at the point of praying each time I have to merge or lane change

Oh, and I checked the owner's manual.. it said to blast the vents on high for a minute to remove any moisture... and that should prevent/reduce foggage.. but it hasn't worked for me..

i just keep mine on "defrost floor" as it comes out on the front window with that as well, i aim the side vents (the far side vents) at each window (driver, passenger) and when driving either keep it on 2 and full red or 1 and half red and not once have i had a problem with foggy windows.

I have an 09 xD and as long as I am using fresh air, not recycling air inside the car, the windows are fine. I did try the recycle option and my windows started fogging up within say a few minutes.

On my 09 there is a dial that can ask for fresh air or recycled air that is already inside the car. The recycled air identifier looks like a little car and 2 arrows making a circle. Sorry but, thats the best I can describe it right now.

In the summer it works great and doesnt have to work as hard.

when you use the defog option you have to have the ac on. With the ac on it will blow dry air to the windows as apposed to just recirculating moist air to the windows. The dry air will help clear up the fogged up windows a lot faster.

I see the dial... can't believe I never saw it or didn't think to try it.. lol. It's turned to the setting on the right... which looks like the recycled air option. So I will try the fresh air and post results

If I do not run fresh air my windows will fog back up with the quickness. When I owned my Z28 it was running with a 160 degree thermostat which meant it took forever to heat up in the winter. My response was to use some Rain-X Anti-Fog which really does work.

just turn on the a/c, you can have the temp setting on the hot side so you dont freeze, but the a/c system is designed to remove moisture out of the air, so turning on the a/c will defrost your windows faster.
