Default Stock xD alloys......

I live in the Gulf States region and noticed that the stock xD alloys are not available. You are forced to get the tacky wheels GS offers. My Yaris LB has GS alloys and I really wanted the stock alloys--I think they look better.

Does GS do this because they make more profit on the wheels the elect to install? They all have Toyota logos so I am a little confused as to why the xD wheels shown on the Scion website aren't available. They look like a perfect compared to what is offered.

(I want my car ready to go and don't want to fool with ordering/installing wheels separately.)

Are you talking about the 16" five spoke wheels? I was hoping to get those as well but my dealer said they weren't available, that you can only get the TRD wheel package for $2K.

The dealerships are probably getting a bigger cut when you purchase their alloys versus the ones in the scion brochure, therefore they're not trying to push them.

However, they are available and your dealership can get them- they're just being ignorant about it.
The dealership where I purchased mine had 16" enkei 5 spokes as the upgraded alloys. Not being a fan of the look, I inquired about the ones in the book and asked if I could get those. No problem. Bought my car on the 7th of December (a Friday) and the wheels were in the next Wednesday.

If you want em, be persistant- there doesnt seem to be a real valid reason why dealerships are saying they are unavailable. (The Scion manager at the dealership said I was the first to ask about those wheels- he had forgotten about em in the book! )

Actually those rims don't look that bad actually. Don't know how they would look on a silver car though hehe.

Those are great looking wheels. They fit the body's angularity well. When I put in my zip code on the Scion site no alloys come up as optional. I'm wondering if the dealer actually charges more for getting and installing them?

Was your cost more than the advertised price?

I paid $750 ish for the upgrades. Granted, I know I could have gotten 17 or 18" rims with tires for just a lil more, but I didnt have that kind of cash on hand to throw on wheels.

And to reiterate, as far as I know any dealer should be able to get these wheels.

Hi, all, my first post in these forums.

Here in Austin, TX, I had the same issues that Draeg in Louisiana mentioned. Two of the three local dealers said I couldn't order the standard Scion-branded 16"x6.5 rims in the Gulf area, but one (Classic in Round Rock, TX) knew - or admitted - that they were indeed available. In any case, they explained to me that you don't really "Build Your Own" xD, despite the jazzy flash animation on the Scion site, but rather your dealer adds your preferred options into a system that matches with cars rolling into the local port (Houston I think).

I'm hoping to get my Magnetic-Grey xD with the [ EDIT $795 ] stock alloy package in mid-February. We'll see!

You can build your own. I did, and ordered it back in August, it is expect to hit Houston in mid february and arrive in Dallas a week later. So it is possible, but plan on waiting 6-8 months for your car if you do that. As apparently what I ordered couldn't be matched with a car coming to Gulf States. (Nautical Blue / Manual Transmission / VSC)

You can and do build your own. And yes, they will try to match you as close as possible to a car already heading to port, or even to the dealership. Some accessories are installed at the lot, but alot are done at the port. Sooo ... if you don't match, you end up building your own, but it comes in a month or two later.

Oh, I get'cha. If your preferences don't match up in the system they actually will build your Scion to order.

Six to eight months, tho - wow. That reminds me a little of the purchase of my 2003 G35 coupe. It was Motor Trend Car of the Year in '03 and pretty hard to come by. Somebody in Dallas ordered a G35 coupe in Aug 2002 for delivery in Feb 2003, but it turned out the sales-droid entered the wrong color code into the system, so his white G35 arrived dressed in black. I snapped up the car he didn't want - in fact the only 6spd G35 coupe available at the time in the entire state of Texas. I know, I called all 12 Infiniti dealerships at the time.

Since my Scion dealer told me that mid-February delivery was likely, I'll have to think positive and assume my grey/auto xD is already Houston-bound and will have alloys added at the port. Maybe the Blue/Manual/VSC combo is a lot harder to come by.

Woof, where are you located? if you're in PR or HI, they may not have the rims available.

That was the case. I ordered my Scion on a Thursday and got a call the following Thursday morning that the dealer had been assigned both a VIN number and a "load number", which meant they knew it was on a truck heading to the dealer. It was prepped for an early evening pickup that same day, so I've been driving my new Scion with 16" stock alloys since last Thursday.

Great little car!

(UPDATE - here's a snapshot of my stock alloys - they do look a little different than Draeg's shot of his red xD posted earlier ...

Zapped: Those are the wheels I've seen on an xD here in Mississippi. Most all xD's have wheel covers.

I believe the upgrade price is $795 and I would imagine the dealers here would add mounting and balancing just to juice the deal.

Our two Scion dealers here could care less about customers. Buy the cars they got or do without. Pretty grim.

I just ordered my xd a couple of days ago, the salesman informed me that their are two sets of 16" wheels they offer, the Enkei's are $725 as advertised on the website, the other alloys with the scion logo on them are $795. I got the scion alloys, and of course they would not sell them to me for $725 even though that was the only price advertised for 16" alloy wheels.

Just picked up the XD for the wife this week. As soon as I got home I did some looking, and found the OEM 16's as pictured above shipped for $545.00. I always get the absolute bare optioned car cause all the add ons can be found for 25% less just looking online.

Did the floor mats for $65.00 too.
