Default Thinking of buying a XD

I'm in the market for an affordable car.. and the Scion Xd has caught my eye for a while now. I rarely see them on the road, not sure why.. Anyway, with all the incentives out there right now, but none for scion, is it smart to get one?

im here!

Uhm theres many reasons why there isnt not many xd out.

theres some disadvantages such as not much aftermarket support as of right now. But Its picking up.

xa is not for vip style (toyota ist)
xb gen 1 known for vip aswell ( bb )
tc is known for speed
xd - ?? .. whatever you want it to be lol.

but it really depends what your looking for.

Its a very torquey car with great low end power. but tc is faster.
but the xd can take out cars in its class (mazda 3 sedan ect)
If your looking for power. theres good amount of stuff out except for induction.
If your looking for style. you have enough options to play with.
If your looking for fuel economy then its not a bad choice.

for $15.5k ... its not bad and put your own style touch to it and u'll enjoy it more

and besides its better that there isnt much any xd out. makes us unique lol

Thanks for replying.
I'm building one, just for kicks, on the scion website. Is it worth adding any of these features? Are they ridiculously over priced? For instance the Alpine stereo: $449? Sport muffler for $469? etc etc

oo yea dont go by the website imo. they are overly priced. you can get the same parts for cheaper like from trdsparks.com ect.

Just go with base if building one on the website. add what you want later. It's probably cheaper in the long run. I was going to go white if they couldn't find me my RS2

Now the first dealer I went to told me I didn't want an xD, that I should take an xB out. I went to another dealer in search of a Yaris, and fell in love with the RS2, then drove it. I fell madly in love. I can't believe the first guy steered me away. They lost a sale.

BTW.. I had an 05 xB RS2 a few years ago

The alpine radio upgrade is worth it. Better sound than the base, and has connections for future mods. Navigation, rear camera, and subwoofer/front/rear speaker RCA outputs.

The other mods, like scion paint protection, are junk. I would grab the floor mats if you can, as well. The interior light kit, you can do your own for a lot cheaper. Don't get any of the performance mods, they're WAY overpriced, and the wheels available are junk.

in my xD, i've beaten some cars off the line, and been beaten. i don't expect to blow people away, but the car has good torque to get that initial take off.

Thanks for the replies guys.. I assumed it was all overpriced, so I'm glad to get some confirmation. I just hope I can install any addons myself... like the spoiler. That and a roof rack for some bikes...that rear bumper guard looks sweet.. also the floor mats, manual transmission pedals, and the trunk cover. Those are all on my list so far. MAYBE the Alpine system...if I do decide on that, just get it from the dealer?

So my local dealer seems to only ever have a silver xd which I don't want.. I think silver/gray cars look like kitchen appliances. Am I able to go to the dealer, and build my own, then order it? Basically the base car in black with a manual transmission. Will I get charged extra for ordering my own is my question. Thanks!

I had to have a Nautical Blue Metallic which they didn't have on the lot. The dealership was able to get one in but I had to wait about 3 weeks. No extra charges! And definelty DONT even consider the Scion stock remote starter if you were. It sucks. Go aftermarket there with something like Viper or CompuStar.
