Default A third head unit

I'm a new registered user (lurking for a while). I'm surprised no one noticed this, but it's only on the preview site in Scion's webpage. Under "Accessories" for both the xB and the xD is a third head unit, the AVN, which, hence the name, does audio, video, and navigation.

I'm surprised it wasn't in the PRs, either.

Preview site:

The AVN:

Any updates or news on this head unit? Looks hot! I'm all about integration of devices to save space.

I certainly hope so, because that means I'd be able to retrofit into an 06 tC as well ;)

i don't and really wouldn't trust anyone in sales.

it's all the technicians i've worked and dealt with, along with actual enthusiasts that have the knowledge.

that '08 AVN WILL work in an '06 tC.
i have seen the installation, have seen the instructions, and i see nothing or any reason why it won't work.

$1950. Isn't retrofitable, so don't ask.

..here is the navigation demo...
http://www.scion.com/assets/tutorial...emo/index.html

The SNS gives drivers easy access to audio/video and GPS navigation. The 7”screen (1.2 times larger than standard systems) flawlessly unites usability and simplicity with a true Scion brand experience. Features include the ability to customize the audio ambience by Scion model, cool, easy-to-understand 3-D screen icons; 11 ways to input access or input destinations in the navigation system; and much, much more.

That was the message I got. He might have meant that it is not a direct replacement? I dont know...just saying what was sent to me.

uhm.. would you like the installation instructions for the '08 tC?

i'm emailling you the pdf file now since i don't have a place to upload to at the moment.

and to clear i guess one thing up..
yes, you'll lose the radio door... according to the instructions alone that you can see in the file i sent you, it is replaced by a new plastic bezel.

I'm not saying its not possible..and I believe you.

..some of us are a little more willing to do the out of ordinary than the mechanics are allowed to do.

..and thanks for the PDF! I will surely use it or pass it along to someone in need.

i can save the the file as a .svg or .svgz ... but err.. yeah... i dunno.

What kind of file is it originally?

Can't you just do a screen cap?

yeah.. could probably do a screen capture... just wondering if there's a better way to go about it.

some of TIS is obviously still in pdf, like the install instructions i pulled, but the the new system they've implemented for the rest (such as the wiring diagrams and etc, are all part of this Adobe SVG Viewer thing (though awesome for navigating around, it's more difficult to extract for transfer or personal use... and yeah.. .svg or .svgz files)

(well.. techincally i'm sure they want people to actually pay or keep those diagrams for those that should really have them.. sure?)

(i just wonder what the future holds for it as Adobe plans to discontinue support for the SVG Viewr next year or so.. :?)

Yeah, $1950 puts it out of the question. I'll either move my $600 D2 into the xD or just go with portable navi again, which is way more likely. Thanks for the info.
