The seats were in the car when I put the covers on. Taking them out would have made it easier but you don't need to.

Looks great! I can't find any definitive pricing for the xD, what would a set of Clazzio's like that set someone back? Thinking about getting a set for my car.

Cool, thanks for the info, the price isn't as high as I figured it might be.

Ugh, the covers in the back are a PAIN! Do you have the issue with the levers getting caught on the fabric at all? I think I fixed mine but... I can't test it since I don't have my car back yet lol.

Yeah I had a little issue in the back around the adjustment levers at the top. I think I got it pretty good, but I feel like I have to be careful when I fold the seats down so the levers don't get caught on the cover, and pull it out from under the hardware. I had to use a screwdriver to get the covers under the hardware in the first place, but I got it done, no damage.

Do the seat covers interfere with seat mounted airbag deployment? I was under the impression that the side airbags deploy laterally from the front left side of the seat backrest near the stitching for the driver and on the right side for the front pax, as evidenced by these photos: http://www.iihs.org/ratings/rating.aspx?id=867

It would look like that from 'that' photo you linked too, but, I am very certain that there are no airbags acutually embedded into the seats themselves. The airbags are in the molding above the front doors and b-pillar.

Search youtube for xD crash tests and there is one that has the interior shot during a side impact test and you can see clearly where the airbag deploys from and its NOT from inside the seat. I'm at work right now and YT is blocked so i cant pull it up directly for ya, sorry, but its there.

That's what a proxy server is for!

Anyway, looking at the video, it is clear that the curtain airbags deploy from the surrounding molding/pillar of the vehicle, however, you cannot see the side airbag very well.

EDIT: Called Toyota, the front side airbags deploy out of the seat exactly as shown in the picture from the link above. They also said that they do NOT recommend seat covers that have not been approved for use in cars with seat mounted airbags as they could inhibit proper deployment. Not sure if the Clazzio's are designed to allow airbag deployment or not.

from what I understand they are designed to allow proper airbag operation.

Wow those seat covers look amazing. Whenever I hear seat covers I think of the ones you can get at Walmart. If these work with the side airbags they will be on my list to get. The price isnt too bad.
