Default What has been your MPG?

I'm kicking around the idea of getting a xD early next year but I've heard a few times the the real world mpg has been a let down compared to the xA and the corolla.
What has been your experience? Please state if you have a 5MT or automatic trans.
Thank you for helping me.

auto trans, and the fiance gets on average 34.5 REAL mpgs. the meter displays 2 mpg higher than she actually gets (we've checked it every fillup manually). I'd say that's pretty good for a better engine than the corolla has (dual vvt-i 1.8L)

I have the 5 speed manual and I consistantly get 35-36 MPG in town driving. I don't commute to work, so freeway driving is rare for me. For me, this is excellent and can't wait to see what my highway MPG will be one of these days.

On my first fill-up the averaged mpg meter gave me ~29. But I'm not sure about the accuracy having come from the stealership. They didn't check the tire pressure before I left; all the tires were low (one was off by 9psi).

With just the 5 mi drive back from the gas station the averaged mpg meter gave me ~35 mpg. Hopefully it'll stay that good. oh, yeah, mine has an auto-tranny.

it depends on yer driving style & city/hw ratio. I have a ScanGaugeII on my xA, and so far it's been about 98% accurate on gas. We average 28-30 MPG a tank (actual), but the average speed per tank is about 27 miles per hour..

Lifetime average (4K miles) 32.09MPG, highest - 39.7, lowest - 26.4 (first measured tank), average speed ~30mph, trip computer was on average 2.45MPG wrong.

Yeah, I keep an Excel sheet :D

The xA has returned the same results for the last 5 tanks, so i don't even bother...

It's great seeing others posting thier results now. You really do not want mine, it will drop the average pretty badly.

(2 mile commute to work in crappy cold weather will make your mileage BAD)

You're not the only one.

I've kept one for 100% of the 27.5k miles I have on my xA.

AVG MPG meter is almost always over 40 for me... highest was 47.9 about halfway through the tank.

It is usually 38-40 when checked at the pump.

Mostly highway driving. A lot of elevation changes. Damn I love this car.

I have the 5sp and so far have been avg around 27 with almost all driving in town... I wonder if the winter gas mix decreases the MPG a little.

Highest I've seen the average display at half-way through the tank was 49.7 - but that was a 50mph 200 mile run on rural highways with few stops in small towns with stupid red lights.

How many miles do you all go until you fill the tank? I go 270mi but never want to push it to 300mi (I think thats the max mi you can go, not sure). Kinda wondering if I'm getting sucky mileage or I'm sucky at math.. lol. Man I'm so bad at math.. keeping track sounds like a biiiiig word problem to me.. and I'm horrible at those!

I kinda know what to write down for keeping track, but can someone share what exactly they do? There is an opportunity for me to land a job much closer to home which will help with gas money since it would cut my weekly mi down by half. Though I want to find out what my actual mi is.
