i'm in the process of getting an 09 XD. what options should i actually add on from the dealer? should i jusy buy everything online and have a shop do it or is it cheaper or easier to just have them do it?
are their trd parts any good?

 

TRD parts are good and easy to obtain. I wouldnt pay for installation on anything though, mostly everything can be done by yourself fairly easily with the exception of paint and body work.

 

Many addons can be done by yourself or with eBay'd parts, but if you want vehicle stability control, you need to specify that before you pick the car. It cannot be added once a car leaves the factory. Personally I recommend having it but YMMV.

 

better to clarify what options you want. then we can direct you as whether to buy them or not. I had the suspension(shocks AND springs) done. only added a G installed. that's not that bad really. car rides nice. get a rear sway bar for sure. xD likes to pegleg in turns and that sucks coming from a guy who had an autcrossing car before.

 

the only thing i guess i will add is a rear sway bar and the spoiler. i have looked at everything else like tail lights exhaust springs and i can get all that cheaper online. The sway bar is about that same. the rear spoiler is cheaper online but the install might be a pain in the ___ so i'm just gonna let them do that.

 

Even though I don't have a Scion yet, I highly recommend getting VSC, too. If you are not familiar with it, search for it on wikipedia. This is a revolutionary safety system, and will soon be mandatory on all cars.

 

yea, VSC would help the xD tremendously. car is skittish in the rain with wide tires
