Default where's the filter?

come on Scion! why is it that this company does not install cabin filters in these cars? Out yesterday and it sounded like there was a ace of spades in the blower. wth?? like adding these to the car is gonna make it so expensive. despite just making them for my xB1 and tC was cake, but still, is that the customers responsibilty really? not so easy to create one for my xD as I checked already. You can bet that that is one thing I will forever check when I buy another car especially if it's another Scion. if it's not one thing, it's another with this car.

So you're saying that the presence of a cabin air filter will make or break your decision for which car to buy in the future?

I agree that it's REALLY cheap of Scion to leave it out. Ridiculous, really. But given the price of a new car, and the fact that you have to change the cabin filters regularly anyway, how hard (or costly) is it to choose your vehicle based on more important characteristics, and just put in a filter yourself?

no, I said I'll be checking the cars from now on. but it is rather cheap to not just have it in there.

So you mean there is a place to put one, but it just doesn't come with it? I've seen people selling cabin filters for xD's and Yaris's... so I'm guessing that's the case. If so, that is pretty lame.

Puerto Rico destination xDs DO have the filter installed. For the rest of you, simply purchase the Toyota cabin filter for your model and go on with life. Most folks don't care, that's why the xD is so inexpensive...

so cheaper cars have them and ours don't? despite the nameplate. Toyota is still Toyota. I still expect the amenities. You see the new Camry ad? anyway, I pulled the leaves out tonite.

Well, that's kinda weak. My Golf came with a cabin filter, and the replacements were about $15 or $20.

There is no tray for the air filter, you just insert the filter in to the gap and you're done. Doing it yourself is not that hard and if you get a decent sized filter from Lowes/Home Depot you can have three filters instead of spending $20 for one.

Not sure why the Yaris comes with one when its actually cheaper or the same price depending on the model you're getting. Maybe they thought we wouldn't care if we got one or not. Call up Scion Corp. and complain about not getting one from the start.

Not sure what others are referring to. My 2008 has an obvious slot for a filter once you pop off the top cover. It's all easily accessible once you pop out the lower glovebox.

I purchased the toyota filter from sparks toyota (great, inexpensive resource for everything scion TRD) cost was reasonable.

I'm weird about air filtration - I did this within a week of purchasing the car. It's a simple drop in job - no drama.

Cabin air filters in Scions are essentially "optional extras" just like floor mats or wheel locks. Want 'em, buy 'em.

It would be nice if Scion or at least the dealer let you know there is a place for a filter but none included.

The car also needs a superchanger. Why didn't they put one in! I am outraged!

if this car is supposed to be 'cheap' and not come with one, then why did they throw in that useless ipod cable? i dont even own an ipod. an air filter isnt just for comfort, its also to ensure a longer, healthier life out of the environmental system. if its such a 'useless' item, go ahead and take the filter out of the central air in your house.

And if it's useful, go buy one. Problem solved.

ill try to make it easier for you to understand... if people are saying the filter is not included because this is an 'economy' car, than why is it that i have a useless ipod cable in my glove box, and an amazingly useless coin/phone storage cup for the cupholder, both of which were included with the car? i dont think refraining to include a cabin air filter is what makes these cars inexpensive. would it not matter if your car didnt come with wiper blades? from the sounds of it, not to you.
