The guy seems like kind of a tool giving shout outs to "his boys" every 5 seconds (watch it) and it looks like it was shot on some horrid cell phone cam. I think its the same car from the photo, especially if you watch the video and look at the front bumper w/that freakin huge intercooler piping, i think they just stripped its graphics added new wheels and what jim posted is a pic of it as it is today.

The guy in the vid said it was a 2007 and stated that the "S Max" Turbo kit was built by "his boys" over at FSR motorsports in Cali.
I'm sorry for being one of "the boys" at FSR Motorsport Creations.

We don't have control over the project, PAS mag did. I can't say anything for the interior, exterior, graphics, etc... We did the turbo kit, which is 100% functional, as is the SMAX intercooler which some of you seem to have thought was just for looks.

We only had two days to build the car, and we did a reasonable job of it. Not easy to weld on 40 hours straight in a shop!

This is the car from this post: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...&highlight=fsr

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...deoid=32335993

And the intercooler piping isn't "huge". 2" hot, 3" cold is pretty typical for a 300-400 whp project, which, if we get the chance to tune it, is what the XD should make.

I guess it is all relative, we are used to 800-1000whp cars.

We were really hoping that this would get the juices flowing for the performance minded XD owner. We made a pretty big investment in it but it doesn't seem like too many are interested in serious performance. It was a fun project, though.

Ian, just curious, as to what you charged PAS $$? (if you can say)
and what you would charge joe blow off the street for the work you did?

I'm sure the time constraints would play a big factor in price, but just ballpark it if you could for a "typical" install parts + labor.

BTW 300-400hp on our chassis' would be plenty for me! shiz!

Bender,

We were doing this as a sponsorship in hopes that it would get the XD community going and then we could start building turbo kits. But I think we swung and missed!

Most of our turbo kits, complete with all 100% fabricated, hand made 316 stainless and 6061 T6 Aircraft aluminum, TIG welded, brand name components start around $5500 depending on the goals.

The parts alone are a few thousand. We believe that quality saves you money in the end.

You can see the quality of work on our website: fsrmotorsports.com

I still need to find a turbo manifold, and dump pipe... then just loose odds and ends like couplers, oil lines and coolant lines...

then the time needed to put it all together...

I actually contacted FSR a while ago to see if I could get a manifold from them, but when I spoke with Ian he said that he would need to custom make one, which meant he needed an xD there to make it happen... and I live on the opposite side of the country...

I'm willing to make the stuff, but I need a local scion to build it on... pretty sure supra parts aren't gonna fit!

so I did see this car in person. I would expect this kind of build from some ebay shoppin ****** with a 92 civic coupe. i would honestly be embarrassed of this car if my name was plastered all over it. shame on PAS for letting this slip thru...makes the magazine and sponseres and Scion look bad

The far pics dont look bad I like the kit and the wheels arnt my first choice but arnt bad.

My only problems with this is as some people said if this is a FULL SPONSORED vehicle why the ____ wasent it detailed before the event and how could a company put their name on a vehicle that has cracks and from the looks of what I see some ____ty work but I could be wrong.

I dunno I expect more from a car that is company sponsored

For most of us, our xD is our one and only car, so it's a real Daily Driver. That means most of us would rather wait for the warranty to run out before putting in an additional "200-300 hp" (however unpractical for daily use, let alone unbelievable for the stock engine) before facing a hefty repair bill. Or at least, see and hear one in person, and drive one (if possible) before shelling out for a tremendous modification to our cars.

I'm not much for tuning, and personally do not care for the so-called import scene (as if "imports" are the only automobiles that can be modified for street and track use). But to get anything like that done on a 40-hours and 2-day budget is impressive; I work in the automotive industry, so I know from a personal standpoint. Unfortunately, a little more time and communication in the project might have benefited all parties involved.
