Default xD.. Did you know...

Your Scion xD has electric power steering? Unlike other hybrid EPS systems, the xD does not have a fluid reservoir, the system is totally electric and will operate even if the engine suddenly stops while moving.

Automatic transmissions will not upshift past 3rd when the engine "cold"
light is on.

You don't have to hold the key in place when starting the engine. A slight turn of the key engages the starter motor and the engine will crank over and start automatically..

Please add any other "unique" features of the xD (yes.. I am bored today)

Sure, this sounds like a fun informative thread, although it would encompass other stuff already covered. Kinda like a gathering of info.

Did you know you could reset the maintenance light by setting info display to trip A and turn off the car. Then hold the mode button down while you turn the car on. A series of bars will pop up and then start to count down while holding the mode button until they're gone.

Did you know you could turn off the start up sequence by setting you info display to the odometer, and turn off the car. Hold down the mode button down while you turn on the car, and a S will pop up. Then you can toggle S on or off.

This may seem silly to some, but may avert some hassle to somebody stuck on the side of the road. Did you know the scissor jack is not with the rest of your tire changing tools and spare tire? It's actually located under the driver seat.

Did you know there is a manual hatch release on the inside of the hatch door? It's behind an odd hole plug on the door panel. Remove it the you will be able to move the lever from left to right to pop the hatch.

What do you mean, when referring to startup sequence?

You'll have to hit the 2:52 mark on the video, but that is what I'm referring to.

So, what's the significance of turning it off?
You don't get a gauge check when you start the car?

I hate the cold operation mode, sounds like I'm racing down the highway because the car holds 3rd for so long.

Default great info

I was wondering about the car not shifting sooner in the cold NE winter mornings.

Just the other day when starting the car my hand slipped and yes the car continued starting.

Where is the manual hatch release button? Is it on the inside of the hatch door somewhere?

Did you know that the XD in Europe (Urban Cruiser) got the worst crash test ratings of any other car and has more standard features than the US model (like rear disc brakes)?

the start up thing, i amaze my friends with. "you don't have to hold the key forward?"

All i do is forward enough to catch the starter, then release (not holding til it starts). Let the car do the rest. LOL!

I do this too, but it causes problems for me when I drive other cars. It's become habit so now every time I drive another car it takes me two tries to start the car...

I did not know that. What would/could you do with that? Climb walls? Never lose grip on a track? Hydroplane like a ****? Wild, but cool!
