xD MPG under normal driving?

xD MPG under normal driving?
Hi,
I am considering getting a xD, but was wondering what real world mpg I can expect. I want to know what mpg people are getting who drive normally with A/C on most of the time.
I don't want responses from people who do everything possible to get the most mpg's, I want real world numbers.
Please don't tell me the read out of your mpg displayed while driving, I only want numbers that you have hand calculated yourself after fill up.
Please state whether you have an automatic or manual.
Also state what percentage of your driving is city/highway.
Thanks in advance.

Me too!
Like the user above, I'd like to know some real world numbers. I plan on commuting with my xD, about 65 miles one way, pretty much all highway at about 60 - 65 mph. Is 370 to 400 miles to a tank realistic? I'd like to get at least 3 trips to/from work before having to fill up.
I went and test drove a Fit last week and it seemed cramped. The top is too narrow. Tested an xD yesterday, and loved it! All I gotta do now is wait for the state of Texas to mail my $3000 voucher so I can trade in my old Camry. Yep, they're paying me 3K to give it up. Can't wait, and thanks for the replies!

You won't be able to hit 400mi a tank, as Zefoxe stated its only a 11gal tank.
I've been logging my fill ups and miles I've gotten out of the tank. I've only reached 300mi once or twice here in SoCal. Most likely its because of the way I drive, fast and not really considering gas consumption. I'll need to find my mileage book and give you numbers
[edit]
Ok I did the math. I drive an auto and its a mix of streets and highway, probably 40% and 60% respectively. I've kept logs since I've gotten the car but could only find sheets since January. I fill up about every week basically, and my average miles to the gallon for me is 28.6. Which is pretty good actually.

I've had my xD since the Sept 2nd 2007. So far I have 25,000 miles (89 mile one way commute plus all other driving). I drive mostly on the interstate at 70-80 mph. I keep a spreadsheet to track fuel economy.
real results so far;
lifetime average mpg: 32.6
highest tank: 39.6
lowest tank: 25.9
most miles per tank: 357.3
This is mostly highway, and about half of it is with snow tires which reduce fuel economy.
Average on snow tires: 32.1
Average on stock tires: 33.2
All figures are rounded to the nearest tenth.
In my experience the cars mpg computer reads 2-3 mpg higher than real world results.
Hope this helps.

I have 2000 miles on my xd. I drive about 50 miles per day on a two lane road with a few stop signs along the way. I live about 30 miles east of Charlotte, NC in rolling hills. I probably average about 45 miles per hour during the drive. I've been getting around 33 miles per gallon. I've only had to use the A/C a few days so I'm not sure if it's really affecting my mileage. I've been able to go 325 miles on a tank of gas. I traded in my Jeep Wrangle Unlimited which got about 16 miles per gallon and would go about 250 miles on a tank of gas. I'm very happy with the xd so far.

I've had the xD for a few weeks now and put about 800 miles on it. I drive 8.5 miles one-way to work up and down hills mostly at 45mph, so it's a toughie on the gas. I also do a LOT of driving all over town for my job (insurance agent) so I see a good deal of highway. I drive an automatic as well.
Given all that I've been seeing 26-28 average per tank with my second tank giving me almost 33mpg (that was mostly all highway).

If you have not posted your MPG, go and post here: https://www.fueleconomy.gov/mpg/MPG....Scion&model=xD

Thanks everyone!
Looks like only 300 - 350 per tank is the consensus. Special thanks to libima , that's almost exactly how I'll be driving, albeit a little slower. I'll also be getting the standard, which should help.
Well, it's either the xD or the Matrix, and I'm not sold on the Matrix yet. We'll see how it goes!

back again
Hey everyone again. I was visiting the car reviews over at Edmunds.com and was browsing through their owner reviews:
http://www.edmunds.com/scion/xd/2008...merreview.html
Some people are getting 36 to 42 mpg. Hopefully those are real numbers, and if that's the case then I can easily get 370 miles on a tank.
To haskovec - go to this website:
http://www.nctcog.org/trans/air/act/
In a nutshell, if you live in an urban or suburban county in Texas, the state will give you a $3000 voucher to trade in a car that has either failed its emission inspection, or is at least 10 years old. Income limits apply, but they're scaled for families. With 2 kids, it's $63K/year.
I've got a 94 Camry with a bazillion (227K+) miles, wrecked once, looks like hell, but still runs good. But who knows when the next disaster will strike? It's gonna need tires soon, and the EKG valve was throwing service codes last year. It could run another 50K, but who knows. Heck, if they're buying, why not?

I would consider 36+ MPG to be very optimistic. I get 34 MPG in mostly highway driving. This is with a 5 speed, Mobile 1 synthetic 0W-20 oil, and 41 psi tire pressure in the stock 16" tires. This MPG is based on actual accumulated fuel use and miles driven, not guessing from the vehicle display.

I was just reading through this again, and realized that I forgot to mention that I have the manual trans.
JMS5000, you say that your driving will be at mostly 60-65 mph. You will get better MPG than I get. I would guess that highway driving at that speed would get you at least 35 mpg assuming that there are not a lot of hills on your drive.
I've noticed that hills, and speed are the biggest influencing factors in fuel economy, the next biggest is quality gas.
I would also assume that people on edmunds are just stating the computer MPG in there reviews, the 37-40 mpg seems very optimistic to me. and like I said in my previous post the computer always seems to be 2-3 mpg high.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask or PM me.

I'm crushed!!!
Well, everyone, it looks like I won't be getting the xD after all. It's not on the approved list for the AirCheck Texas replacement cars. After a little research, I found that the approved cars have to have an emission standard of Tier II Bin 5 or better. The xD is a Tier II Bin 8. NOx emissins are .20% instead of .07% or something like that.
Some of my alternatives are there, though: tC, xB, Matrix and Corolla in their 1.8l versions, and the Fit (bleh).
To quote Marvin, "well, back to the old drawing board".
See y'all around.
