xD on Order, arriving as soon as Tomorrow?!
Hey all, this xD will be my first new car ever and I'm very excited. I requested Silver w/ sway bar. The dealer just called and wants to get one from 200 miles away in Cincinnati tommorow (tues) or weds.
Their parent company has a $250/off coupon which we presented to our salesman who promptly told us it wasn't applicable for Scion models.
My question, which I need answered pretty quick, is: should we press for the coupon or take a car that will be closer and have less miles on the odo at delivery (could mean waiting up to 8 weeks). Does anyone have an opinion about how many miles make a "new" car? I passed on a Matrix cause it had 250 miles on it "new" (among other reasons). Thoughts?
Thanks in advance,
C.J.

I decided to vote wait, just because I am waiting for mine. My car will take about 3 months to get in since I ordered manual with VSC. It is supposed to be in at the end of November. Anyway that being said at least in Dallas, it seemed like they could get most cars in 2-3 weeks, so I say order it. But given the pure pricing of scion and the lack of much markup on them I can see the dealer not accepting the coupon.
Are you sure that the new car will take 8 weeks to come in? The one that I ordered had to come directly from Japan because none in the inventory nearby matched my specifications, but even then it took 4 weeks to get a new one.
I'm in NJ though, it's possible that the coast gets the cars sooner.

I find it interesting how long you have to wait for your car to arrive. Here in South Florida all of the Scion Models are in ample supply...infact were are slightly over supplied.
All Scions come directly from Japan and are distributed through out the country.
The car is legally a new car until it is titled to another party, the fact that it will have 200 miles on it is irrelevant, besides your warranty technically starts from the date and miles at purchase.
Pressing for the coupon will not work. Scion dealerships are under no obligation to honor a coupon unless the coupon was created and marketed by that specific dealership or Toyota Inc for that specific purpose. In fact, honoring that coupon could cause them to be non-compliant when they are audited by Toyota. Pure price policy is strictly enforced in order to make sure all Scion dealerships treat all customers with the same pricing regardles of what Scion dealership they buy from. Nothing worse than buying a Scion from one dealership only to find that someone you know bought the same model for less.
As for should you wait or buy now.......that's a tough decision. Both "playindagamewell" and "woof" make good points. Good Luck!!!!
As for whether or not you should wait,

Thanks for responding.
I should have mentioned that I sold my old car (a 95 Probe) 6 weeks ago and am tired of having my husband drive me around.
Yeah, as for the coupon dealie, it prob won't go through but maybe we can get free floor mats or something.
The car is coming up today from Cinci whether I buy it or not. Our salesman really wants to make the sale for the end of the month, so he probably wants me to "fall in love" and overlook the miles.
Thanks for the info about the warranty starting at existing mileage; I hadn't considered that fact. I will be more likely to not be emotional about the number cause it's arbitrary. Some folks drive 15k miles/year whereas I drive more like 5k. So in the long run it doesn't matter.
My husband is taking me to meet the car after work today.
Updates to come, for sure!

yeah, your warranty starts from the miles listed on the odometer statement. make sure that you check the mileage yourself and make sure the odometer statement says the same thing. if there's a difference on one, have the business manager correct it. have fun with your new xD! I'm installing alloys on mine tomorrow.
