Default xD Owners : How do much do you like your cars?

Hey guys (and gals),
I was looking at a new xD, and my gf was looking at a focus. Could you tell me how much you love your cars and what you think makes them better than the new focus.

Thanks

this is kind of funny for me, since i wrecked my old focus and got my new xD out of it. Granted, it was a 2002 and i know the 08 focus is way improved...that being said:

1) F.O.R.D = Found On Road Dead. The focus reputation is terrible, with one of the highest recall rates over the past few years.

2) I have NEVER had good service at a ford dealership. Being a young female student, they treated me like i knew nothing about cars and tried to rip me off. This wasn't just one particular dealership, I tried all three in my area and hated all of them. My experience at Scion was amazing though. Friendly staff and the pure pricing are both huge pluses in my book.

3) Back to the pure pricing, it was nice to know ahead of time how much my car would cost, no matter where i went. As for ford, you will have to shop around to get a good deal and haggle your ___ off.

4) I don't know how important this is to both of you, but the customization options are endless with the xD. Sites like this one allow great communication with other scion owners.

5) In my opinion, i liked the hatchback style of the xD and the extra cargo area. the xD feels roomier to me on the inside too. Like the looks of the xD overall.

6) the xD is so much FUN to drive! great handling and lots of pep, even with passengers. in the focus, it would struggle getting 0-60 with even one extra person or some cargo in the back.

that's all i've got right now, i'll post more if i think of it hope i could help!

My experience with Ford was bad. I bought a new car from a Ford dealership, found out months later that my new car was in a wreck before. It had a bent subframe and it was not repaired. So I called ford, and obviously talked to the dealer ( and that never helps) but Fomoco told me it was my problem. I had to sell the car myself at a huge loss, the dealer is Stoneham Ford in Stoneham, MA. I kinda promised myself to never deal with Ford dealerships ever again. HAHa.. The only Ford I'd buy from now is a used Ford GT

Do not let her get a Focus! By far the crapiest car I've ever seen. My mom has one and I've lost count on how many things had to have been replaced/repaired.

The only thing FORD is good for are their Trucks (well untill you hit 100k miles). My previous vehicle was a Ford Ranger and it was a GREAT truck.....then it hit 100k and things just started going bad (and some had been replaced twice and came back again).

if you live in the US the NEW focus sedan is old car with new sheet metal. The rest of the world (including Mexico) has already gotten A new model focus. that being said the old focuses where OK in my experience (worked on a fleet of the SW
models) the electrics are a bit dodgy But the engine/ trans ETC
never gave us trouble ( I do not believe the NEW US models have the same engine) 2.0 ZETEC

Or their Crown Vics, until they hit about 200k, and then you change something for a hundred bucks and go another 100k. I'd easilly drop the box before the vic.

But it's funny you should mention the xD and the Focus, as I recently test drove both of them for my aunt. As far as dealers go, both were dicks. Granted, I did not use my regular Toyota or Ford dealer, as I kind of like the relationship we currently have, and don't need them hounding me about buying a new car. Acceleration was a push IMO. Handling goes to the Focus. Everything else goes to the xD. Seriously. Room, features, comfort, everything. Also, the Scion just is presented better, in terms of fit, finish and convenience. Your actual seated position is so much better in the xD. The Scion will resell for much more than a Ford.

Let me start a new paragraph again to repeat that. The Scion will resell for much more than a Ford. If you buy a new Ford anything, you will have wasted half of what you paid in about 8 months.

So I recommend the xD. I liked it better than the Focus and Rio 5-door. I actually like the Rio better than the Focus too.

Hmmm... in response to the first question:

What I like more about the xD compared to the Focus? Well... it's not a Focus. Nuff said.

Personally, I can't stand the Focus. I think they're ugly as sin. That, and everyone out there has one. You don't see many xDs around.

In all honesty, though, it's all about you and what you prefer. We could go on all day long about why the xD/Scion/Toyota are superior, but if you don't like it, that's it. Go test drive them both extensively. Take them out for a half hour and hit the backroads, freeway, etc... Drive at night AND day and see which one you feel best fits you. Trust me, you'll just know.

another car if the xd doesn't do it would be a vw city golf simular price (not as well equipped and the same size engine 1.8l) the 08
refresh looks good IMHO
still trust Toyota over VW
I have NOT even seen an XD (illegal in canada) but it is based on the yaris HATCHBACK with is sold around the world

I like mine. Note, I said like, not love. It's a perfectly good car, but I don't love my particular car. My dad forced me to get a God-forsaken automatic because my sister will get it in a few years. I'd like to know who thank for this in the afterlife...

Regardless, i'll be getting myself something nice in a few years.

Default Let's Not Slam the Focus

As an xD driver, I very much like the car. The Ford Focus is a decent drive as well. The handling of the Focus is superior to the xD. The present Focus may be "old" sheet metal, but the chassis is as good as they come in terms of handling. Drive a manual transmission Focus and compare the experience to an xD and you cannot say the car is inferior.

Frankly, Ford screwed up when they eliminated the hatch back in favor on only offering sedans for the 2008 model year. Dealer service highly depends on the particular dealership. I have done business with two Ford dealerships in central Indiana and both are top notch. The Toyota dealership where I bought my Scion xD and xB is a good one as well.

On another note, theres a 2005 Focus in my neighborhood and has rust spots on it already. Pretty bad for a 3 year old car

ive never owned a scion, or even a toyota... but ive only heard good things about them, and rarely ever hear of problems. my dealership was great, the car has been great, and i really like everything about it. the only think i dont like is that there are no variable intermittent wipers, and for how much it rains in washington, its annoying to be unable to adjust to the intensity of the rain. other then that, i love this car.

I love my Dizzle, I drive 127 miles a day to and from work and I actually don't get unconfortable in the car, also the ride is awsome with my sprint sprints and the only thing that I worry about is my kit cause these Cali roads are a huge hazard to lowerd kited cars... but other than that I love my xD!

Go with the xD, you won't regret it. I am more of a performance car enthusiest but I finally bit the bullet and got something that would get good gas mileage. I have been averaging 37-41mpg in a 5spd xD and I love it. The car is comfortable, more than roomy, and is actually pretty peppy for a 1.8l motor. It is hands down one of the best choices I have made in a while.

i absolutely love mine because it really doesn't look like anything else out there right now. all of my friends are surprised at how strong it feels on the road compared to other vehicles its size. i absolutely love the dash waterfall effect. it's so much better than the dash on more pricy vehicles. my dad just bought a vibe and my mom bough a jeep liberty. i would take my car over theirs any day. i've had mine for almost 6 months and i think i like it better all the time.

my fiance wants the new focus. i'm trying to keep him away from ford. good luck!

I know how you feel on that, I have had mine now for 8 months and everyday when I go outside to get the paper or leave to work I just stand back for a second and admire my xD.... lol
But seriously though, the more that I see them now, the happier that I am that I have a; kit, lowered, wheels and so much more, because it gives new Scion enthusists new ideas and different styles that they can use for the future, and the awsome looks and thumbs up all of the time.... it makes you feel really good about your Scion xD

Coming from cars with more performance-minded designs, how is the handling? I cannot stand that "floaty" feeling some cars/trucks have. I still don't see how people even keep pickup trucks on the road with steering like that!
