That was the deduction made based on the fact that in high gear (5th) on the standard xD,it is geared higher than the auto's 4th gear. This creates higher rpm's causing lower fuel mileage. Just the facts...Yea the 405 frwy. from Redondo beach to Santa Clarita Ca. is a bummer.

oh. Well, that would make since. But, what it I drive it in 5th when I can? I thought mt got better gas mileage partly b/c at red lights, when the auto is still pulling a little on the wheels, I can have the mt in neutral with no load on the engine. Who knows. I wouldn't doubt however that auto transmissions are getting better though.
