Default xD with tC wheels

http://picasaweb.google.com/zoltiz/ScionxD

before and after in the gallery.

Tires will be replaced by the end of the week - tC's 215/45 are too small - 215/50 are in the mail.

The car also looks taller in the picture than it really is - it's not settled after I replaced the wheels, so ignore that

Because they are.

OEM steelies are 195/60/16 - 25.2" diameter, 800 revolutions per mile
tC OEM tires are 215/45/17 - 24.6" diameter, 819 revolutions per mile, throws speedo off by 2.4%
The ones I ordered are 215/50/17 - 25.5" diameter, 792 revolutions per mile, and only 1% error on the speedo, plus it will keep the RPMS a tiny bit lower on the highway.

Ok cool. I am prolly gonna get an xD thursday and I had my old stock tC wheels I was gonna throw on it but I wasn't sure how much it would throw off the speedo.

I can't find a site that sells 16" wheels for the xD. Everything is 17" and I don't wanna mess up the speedo. I am gonna get stock size tires and wheels if I can find it.

Do u know of anywhere that has lowering springs for it yet?

Your best choices for 17" tire will be 225/45/17 and 215/50/17. I went with 215 for slightly better gas mileage and cheaper tire, but 225/45/17 will be a great fit, too.

As far as springs go - call Ken at trdsparks.com - they don't have them on the website yet, but they might be able to ship them out Thursday - that's when mine are being shipped.

Very nice! That's gonna look terrific with a drop.

On a side note, what are the specs for the springs?

I always go with TRD - they do spend a lot of cash on research and since they are ready to warranty the damn things it probably means that the drop won't hurt the struts. I think scion.com says 1.2" drop front and back. It will settle to about 1.75" eventually. Always does.

Yeah I wanted to go with something lower but it will be my fiances car and I don't wanna go too low for her that she will have to worry bout scraping. Also don't want to wear out the struts any faster. So I may go with the TRD as well.

I wonder if the TRD 18's would mess up the speedo much if u put a shorter tire on it.

TRD 18s are heavy as crap. They are beautiful wheels (also known as Team Dynamics Mirage), but they weigh a ton. OEM steelies are 41lbs with tire, tC OEM wheels are also close to that with tire, TRD 5-spoke 18s that are on the scion.com for xD are scraping 50lbs for the wheel+tire. With not much horsies on the xD you are better off with something else.

TRD 18s come with 225/40/18 tires - they are only .1" smaller than OEM tires and will only throw the speedo off by .5% - pretty much perfect replacement.

Thanks man. I want something that will match or be so close to matching but I don't want heavy wheels that will take away the whole point of the great gas mileage. Guess I am gonna have to run stock sized 16"s with stock size huge tire. Ha ha

Good light 17s with 40-45 offset and 215/50 or 225/45 tire will do you good.

Installed Falken Ziex Ze912 in 215/50/17 - looks much better now - wheel wells filled out and shaved couple hundred RPMs for highway driving. Will post pics after the springs are in.

So would my 225/45/17 tire be the same as ur 215/50/17 tire? How close would it be to the tire size that is on the stock xD? Cause I wanna throw some aftermarket wheels on that are gonna be close to what it on the car so it won't mess with the speedo at all or not enough to tell.

225/45/17 will be close enough - I think it's less than 1% discrepancy, which is perfectly fine. Make sure that "some aftermarket wheels" have offset between 40 and 45.

Yeah I plan on getting a wheel with a +45 offset like I have on the wheels on my tC. I am actually gonna throw the R1 racing wheels I have on my tC onto my xD just to see what it looks like to have a white xD with black wheels with a chrome lip.
