Default car wash=FAIL

This is not how I wanted to start out the weekend. Took the car to the local car wash last night...then come out this morning to find this:

Name: wheels.jpg

I've taken my other cars there before and never had a problem.

I ALWAYS do it myself, but I am going away for the weekend and didn't have time to do it so I figured hey this place is right around the corner and has won all kinds of local awards. Psssssh awards my ___. When I called them this morning the lady was NOT very nice.

I guess I need to look into refinishing or powdercoating.

Yeah I've got like 6 cans in my basement haha. I called one of our local powder coating places and they want $500 to coat the set of 4. Thats a little more than I'd like to spend.

does not matter if it's touchless. the car wash uses ammonia to clean wheels, if the blend is not correct, that is what goes wrong. file a complaint.

They are telling me the wheels are aftermarket so they are not responsible They are a stock option from Toyota...they are not some cheap crap from Walmart. The actual manager was not in. I had to deal with some snotty receptionist who doesn't know squat. Hopefully the manager calls me and we can work this out.

Hey Monkey, it's been a few days since your last post, have you been able to get the car wash to replace your wheel? It's clear they splashed something quite caustic on the wheel and didn't rinse it.

Yeah I went back that night and saw the manager. The guy was really cool and admitted that one of his guys probably spilled something BUT since I didn't notice it the same day there isn't anything he can do. Their excuse is that it could have happened anywhere else after I left there the night before. He gave me 30 free wash vouchers and since obviously I won't be going back there I can sell them to pay for a replacement wheel. I messed around with a couple kinds of waxes and got it alot less noticeable.

Damn, that's unfortunate! Reminds me of why I hand wash my car.

Yup, I dont trust anyone in or around my car doing anything to it.

DIY ftw. cant blame anyone but yourself then.

Lesson here? anytime anyone is in or around your car for any reason, inspect that shiz b4 leaving.

You know, you could always take them to small claims court.

I don't have solid proof to win in court. It would be their word against mine.

That's horsepoop. I think it would take some time for the mis-mixed solution to eat away at your wheel like that, so how COULD you notice before you left? Are you suppose to stay there over night to see if any changes have been made to your vehicle?

I agree, you could totally take it to small claims court. If you know any lawyers, law students, or paralegals, or someone who knows one, they could draw up something to scare them into settling.

Of course, this was months ago but with just reading it, I'm irritated. I hate to see stuff like this happen. You could always give them bad feedback or threaten to take it to a local paper. Thats what my crazy mom always did growing up. She's 4'7" but she don't take no crap from nobody! ;)

I know this is an old thread but why not just buy one replacement wheel on eBay and hopefully selling the vouchers from the car wash would cover it.
