Default Did I get ripped?

I traded in my 2006 XA towards a 2010 XD and popped for the 18" TRD rims that were supposed to come with 225/40 ZR18 Toyo Proxes,

But I just noticed the dealership mounted Hankook Ventus V4ES 225/40ZR18 instead.

Should I complain?

Thanks in advance for any help!

depends on the type of proxes you were sposed to be outfitted with. you get a range of 1-175$ on proxes, ventus's normally run around 150 at that size

I would look into seeing how much each tire is worth and maybe even do a little research (reviews, etc..)

I don't know anything about hankook tires but I love my proxes 4's I have on my tC.

Hey, thanks for the responses-

I did research a little but all I could go on was this description for comparison to the Hankooks, and it's still unclear-

Upgrade TRD 18" 5-Spoke Silver Finish Alloy Wheels with "Toyo Proxes 4" Tires and TRD Wheel Locks (PIO) - $1,999
Front and rear alloy wheels with 18 inch rim diam and 7.5 inch rim width locking wheel nuts; Toyo Proxes 4 tires; Front and rear tires with 225 mm tire width, 40% tire profile and Z tire rating; Excludes: [L5] Upgrade TRD 18" 5-Spoke Black Finish Alloy Wheels with "Toyo Proxes 4" Tires and TRD Wheel Locks (PIO) And [SS] 16" Alloy Wheels, Split 5-Spoke (PIO) And [WZ] Wheel Locks (PIO)
http://www.automotive.com/2010/12/scion/xd/packages/index.html

I'll be talking with my sales guy regardless because I didnt receive the locking lug nuts that were supposedly included too, and if the Toyos are even just $25 more per tire, I'll be insisting on a replacement. (even though I have put 3000 miles on the Hankooks)

They already screwed up once on the Alpine/GPS option ordered and I had to bring the vehicle back to swap that out also.

I dont want to be a dick but feel I should get the extra equipment I specified and paid extra for.

I was hoping some of you guys experienced this subbing tires situation also and how you resolved it.

No need for experience here - they messed up and they need to rectify the situation. It's really sad how they messed up on not 1, not 2, but three things... and that's just what you know about.

actually, most places you look show toyo proxes 4 and ventus tires at that size show the same price. Only reason to be dissapointed is if you are a toyo tire fanatic. I have them and personally am not a huge fan, i find the sidewalls almost too soft, although i have a lot more sidewall thanwhat you would have. but its really up to you. however id be weary of small print somewhere that says it may be a tire of equal value...

It's all preference to an extent. If one brand/model of tire has a much higher tread life rating....then obviously there's a difference. But dont do it because you havent heard about hankook tires before. Actually Hankook has been around for almost 60 years... and actually has had their hand in the professional racing circuits for many years... so they do make a good product.

Hankook's aren't that bad. why _____ ( <--female dog) about that sort of stuff? as if Scion has enough problems. maybe there were no Toyo's available and they got you the next best thing that was available to be sure you got your car on time??

Wait just a second there Jim, don't you think you're showing a little too much common sense here. Like i said, the tires are equally valued for the most part. I just dont see the reasoning behind knit picking this. Toyota/Scion WILL have something fine print somewhere that says they are allowed to get you a tire of equal value, and _____ing wont get you anywhere with most people.

make sure that you get your stock wheels as well. that's the one thing i've noticed about people. its bad enough that the option wheel package is expensive and over priced, but 90% of the time you dont even get your stock wheels as well which can be easily sold to other scion owners who have sold theirs off for about $400

Thats good advice, steelies are excellent for winter months, and also for the rainy day that you need an extra wheel or set of tires to get you around for a little while.

I believe different regions also use different tires. I don't know the specifics on the wheel upgrades - but years ago after I got my tC I found out that they were using different OEM tires on the East coast vs the West coast. It could just be that kind of situation.

Which is why I suggested the OP do some research..if both tires were essentially on the same level then I would just let it go
