Default info needed on getting new wheels

Just bought my xd last week and need to get new wheels on this thing. I can’t find a definite answer yet. I live in NJ so I need 2 sets of wheels stock will be the winter and whatever I buy will be for summer. So with the new wheels if I don’t put on new tpms what happens? Will the sensor light just stay on or not? And if I do buy new tpms do I need to get the car programmed to read the new sensors or not?

not sure about reprogramming new sensors, but i do know that the light will come on and stay on if you run tires without the sensors in them.

Don't know if you'd be interested, but I have my stockies and I want to get rid of them lol. No idea how much shipping would be on these suckers though. I could look in to it if you're interested.

For the TPMS if you don't use your current ones the light will just stay on until to 1) switch to tires with TPMS on them 2) buy a second set of TPMS. I think the going price for the TMPS at the dealer is around $100, if not more.

depends on how much you will really rely on them. for me i just threw them on the spare tire. so now i can swap out rims and not worry about the light. but then i can't use my spare tire.

You need all four sensors at the set pressure in order to prevent the TPMS light from coming on. And no, ambient pressure is not enough to set them to.

Yes, if you do not use the original TPMS sensors, you'll have to go to the dealer and have them programmed to the TPMS ECU under the dash via Toyota Techstream. Lovely, huh? I thought so too.
