Default the serious 20" wheel talk...

i did a quick search on wheels in here and saw a lot of people saying 20s are dumb and cant be done... to those people, please stay out.

the wheels im looking at are 20x8 and 20x8.5" wheels i plan on running a 225/30/20 tire.

i had 19"s on my tC and would do 19"s again but tires are too damn expensive on the odd wheel size and everyone has 18"s so, 20s it is.

what offset do i need to go with to get the wheels in the fenders? i plan on bagging the car so it needs to be an offest that will keep the wheels tucked.

i have already removed the fender liners from my car and plan on rolling the fenders also.

i am on TRDs (rs1.0) but plan on going to coilovers and sitting lower then i am now.

thanks for any HELPFUL comments!

I thought you said you weren't gonna bag it?

And then going to coilovers??

Luci my friend, you are confusing...

But 20's... Hmmm... My 17's are on a +35 offset and they're tucked pretty nice, about a finger's width away from the inside of the fender. So maybe a +35 offset would work for what you're trying to do?

if i do the coilovers ill ride around with them as low as the tires allow, so may as well plan for bags as far as the rims are concerned that way i know im good.

and your 17s are prolly arent 8" wide so that changes things up a bit.

I know someone with 19"s on their xD and they say they don't rub, but they have to.

You're going to rub badly I would think since there is someone on 18"s with KSport coilovers who said they rubbed until they did something to the coilovers (it was awhile ago sorry) to stop it from rubbing.

Honestly... why 20"s?

I dont really have much input on offsets but I do want to say go for it and I would love to see how it turns out. Anything can be done so long as you are willing to put the time, effort, and money into it.

they prolly had a crazy camber with the drop from the coilovers, once they fixed the camber they were good.

a 225/30/20 tire is the same size as the stock xD tire so there is no reason it would rub at all as long as offset is right.

i will get it done, just need to find a wheel i like that doesnt involve doing a hub swap. which i may end up doing anyway to get the wheels i really want.

as for why 20"s because 18"s are too easy and 19s are too god damn expensive! last set of 19" tires i put on my tC was $900 just for tires and only rated at 20,000 miles. the 20" tires im getting are only $450 for the tires and rated for 50,000 miles. i drove 20k miles in 7 months with the tC.... thats an expensive habit! lol.

nice another vip styled xd.... haha : ) im excited to see it.. the problem with the xd is where the rear bumper mounts to the rest of the body its kinda in a weird location... so makes cutting and rolling kinda difficult.... my xd should be completely flush or maybe a little bit of poke... time for super stretch to clear the fender.... i also am gonna be on coils... : ) so once i get the wheels here from japan ill post up pics...
