Anyone know of a DIY repair for a scuffed lip.. its not a painted surface. Its exposed polished aluminum. So, the whole sand, bondo, sand, paint thing isnt gonna work. Any ideas?

 

A good DIY on this subject would help. I would think you could wetsand with some fine emerycloth or something like that--But I have not had the guts to try..........

 

U gotta sand it then wax it. I did this to some old gm trim rings off a 78 oldsmobile n sanding is the key. Use a fine sandpaper n alot of it will come out then just wax it.

 

yeah, I was planning on sanding, I have 220 & 420 grit on hand. I was just worried about obviuos low spots or uneveness on the lip after. I guess i'll give it a shot, thanks to both responses. Can't stand the rash...the vehicle otherwise only has one pebble chip in the front, its been a year, thought I was on a roll.. oh well, one sharp turn onto US1 too many, I suppose. Thanks again.

might also want to hit it with some 600 or even 800 grit afterwards but I would wait till u see how it looks after the 420 first. Best of luck to ya.

 

yeah, may get 600, 800, and 1000, do it in stages, then a final buff with a wheel, thanks
