Rims and springs
ok guys this the only way im going to be able to drop my scion with aftermarket springs . I have a big drive way on the old houses so i was thinking of geting some rims where it will lift the scion up about one inch or so and then get some springs that will drop an inch on it . Do you guys know what tire and rim size i shoud use to be able to do that and which springs i shoud use thanks for all the help
i have 215/40 tires on 18" rims which brings my tire diameter to 24.7" which is .8" bigger than if i had 215/35 which would be an exact match for stock tires i believe. this is a good site to figure out tire sizes http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
Your O.E tire size is 185/60R15 and it's overall diameter is 23.7 inches. The following is a list of approved fitments for non-lowered xb's in various diameters that exceed the O.E.'s overall diameter. However, depending on how far you are planning to drop the vehicle, some of these sizes could create some rubbing issues!
Tire Size / Overall Diameter
205/55-15 / 23.9"
205/50-16 / 24.1"
225/45-16 / 24.0"
205/45-17 / 24.2"
215/40-17 / 23.8"
215/35-18 / 23.9"
225/35-18 / 24.2"
215/35-19 / 24.9"

Keebie, do you have lowering springs on your Xb then? I also have the 215/40 18's, and measured to the lip of my fender, it was 2 3/8 front and rear. i was hoping to lower this thing a little, but am a little hesitant as we speak.
Thanks!
Thanks!
